Sophie's POV
"Sophie you know I can't" Biana whispers looking down at the floor
"please Biana. I need to see my people. To see if I can help" I say my voice cracking
"but Sophie, rules..." Biana says her big teal eyes glistening with tears
"I know Biana, but I can't live with myself knowing my people are being starved" I say
"no, Sophie. You nearly died la-" I cut her off
"no Biana. there are people dying" I say truthfully
Biana stares off into space as if in deep thought her only action is whisking the mallowmelt getting more and more aggressive. Eventually after what feels like hours Biana's shoulders slump and she sighs looking up to meet my eyes.
"fine" she mumbles
"oh my god Biana thank-you so so much. You don't know how much the means to me. You are such an amazing friend" I say wrapping my friend in a hug
"kinda need to breath" Biana wheezes
"oh yeah sorry" I mumble. A soft ding! Is heard behind us
"oh goodie the mallowmelt is done" Biana say trying to cheer up again
Biana brings out a tray of hot mallowmelt the steam rising from the sugary treats.
"We better get a move on," Biana says placing the tray down to cool
"sure," I say grabbing a basket and carefully lining the cool mallowmelt into the basket to make as much room as possible.
Once we are done, we have four baskets one in each hand. Each basket containing a different delectable sweet and ice-cold lushberry juice.
Biana leads me to a bench over-looking the hundreds of men fighting they all moved so skillfully and swiftly.
Nearing the end their faces were flushed, sweat trickling down their foreheads as the harsh summer sunlight seared their skin. I scan the fighters trying to find familiar faces.
My eyes land upon a certain teal eyed young man. He moved so easily not having to think twice about his next step, easily predicting his opponents next few moves. I can't help but stare at him in absolute awe.
"good isn't he," Biana says dreamily, snapping me out of my daze. I look at her confused and follow her gaze. Biana's eyes are glued to Keefe. I roll my eyes and nudge her lightly
"not that good" I say playfully
"hmm?" Biana says confused. She thinks for a moment, her eyes widen when it dawns on her.
Putting her face in her hands she mumbles "oh no did I say that out loud"
"I think so Bi" I say chuckling lightly "so, you like Keefe huh?" I say wiggling my eyebrow
"shut up" Biana says her cheeks turning beat red
I can't control the fit of giggles that escape my lips, acting like a little kid.
Biana rolls her eyes and says "don't think I don't see checking out my brother"
With that my laughter immediately stops and I freeze in place
Before I could be tormented any more, loud chimes boom through the fields. I look around confused as to what was happening and see that the fighters had started to distribute.
"that's our cue," Biana says picking up two baskets heading over to a table and placing the sweets down. I follow her abruptly picking up my baskets and placing them on the table taking out the lushberry juice and lining it up in neat rows. Soon after the fighters came hurdling toward us. A long line snaked across the field. We handed out mallowmelt, ripplepuffs, Custard bursts and butter blasts.
My heart filled with warmth at the faces of the tired fighters as they beamed looking at the sweets. Quenching their thirst guzzling down the lushberry juice.
I feel a soft tap on my shoulder, and I whip my head around to see who it is.
Fitz and Keefe are standing there, grins painted across their faces.
"delicious food Foster" Keefe says his mouth still stuffed with food
"Thanks, but the credit goes to Biana. It was her idea after all" I say nudging Biana a sly smirk tugging my lips
"is that so..." Keefe turns to Biana "Best. Mallowmelt. Ever" Keefe says wrapping his arm around Biana's shoulder
I can see her cheeks flushing. And try to stifle the childish giggle erupting from my lips.
"yeah the ripplepuffs were delectable" Fitz says politely
"why thank-you Fitz" I say
"you guys were amazing out there," Biana says grinning happily
"of course, we were amazing, actually I think amazing is an understatement," Keefe says a cocky smirk plastered on his face.
"Actually, the only person who can say that is Sophie," Fitz says his movie star worthy grin on display
"oh yeah, and why is that" Biana asks curiously, raising an eyebrow
"I totally kicked their asses the other day" I say proudly
"yeah yeah whatever" Keefe mumbles embarrassed
"No. Freaking. Way" Biana says between laughs, clutching her stomach tears rolling down her cheeks trying to gasp for breaths
"it is not funny" Keefe says planting a foot and huffing
"it's too good" Biana says wiping tears from her eyes
"I think we have teased the boys enough today. Good-bye guys" I say pulling Biana
"bye guys" Biana says hastily
Biana and small talk the rest of the way, just enjoying each others company
