22. the shrieking shack

Jessica's POV
I am in my last exam Defense against the dark arts this exam came easy to me and as soon as I was done I ran to my room. In my room I changed from my uniform into a pair of jeans, a blue t-shirt with a wolf on it and I put on my leather jacket. I walked out of my room again and went to dinner. I ate quickly and ran out of the hal and transformed into Missy I ran through the grounds towards the forest when I saw Ron appearing seemingly out of no where. I walked towards him when I saw Harry and Hermoine appearing as well. It looked like ron was struggling with something he dropped to the ground and I saw that he was close to the womping willow.  suddenly I felt something jumping over me. I saw the black dog that is my dad running towards Ron. I saw him drag Ron towards the hole under the willow. I ran after him under the willow. I heard Ron moaning in pain and kept running I entered the shrieking shack and saw dad detransform and carry Ron up the stairs. I went upstairs and saw dad lay Ron down on the bed. He looked both scared and angry at my dad. I settled myself on the stool bext to the bed. The door opened and Hermoine and Harry entered 'where is the dog' Harry asked and Ron answered 'I- It's not a dog its him he's an animagus' he pointed at the open door. Harry and Hermoine turned around and dad shut the door. 'I thought you would come help your friend, Your father would have done the same for me. Brave of you not to run for a teacher. I’m grateful… it will makeeverything much easier…' he said.

I saw Ron stand up. 'If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us too!  he said fiercely, though the effort of
standing upright was draining the color out of his face and he swayed slightly as he spoke.  Something flickered in dad's eyes 'Lie down' he said quietly to Ron. 'You will damage that leg even more.'
'Did you hear me?' Ron said weakly, though he was clinging painfully to Harry to stay upright. 'You’ll have to kill all three of us!'
'Only one will die tonight' dad said and I internaly groaned 'don't be so dramatic' I thought. 'AND THAT WILL BE YOU' Harry interupted my dad and attacked him he pointed his wand at dad and dad said 'are you going to kill me Harry'. 'You killed my parents' said Harry, his voice shaking slightly. 'I as good as killed them Harry, You’ve got to listen to me,' dad said, and there was a note of urgency in his voice now. 'You’ll regret it if you don’t… You don’t understand…' I saw Harry hesitate for just a bit and then
The door of the room burst open in a shower of red sparks and Harry wheeled around as Uncle Remus came hurtling into the room, his face bloodless, his wand raised and ready. His eyes flickered over Ron, lying on the floor, over Hermione, cowering next to the door, to Harry, standing there with his wand covering dad, and then to dad himself, crumpled and bleeding at Harry’s feet.  He didn't even notice me in the corner. “Expelliarmus!” he shouted and Harry's wand shot out of his hand. Remus caught it and looked down at dad. 'Well, well Sirius looking rather ragged aren't we, finally the flesh reflects the madness within' Remus said. 'Well you would know all about the madness within, wouldn't you Remus' dad answered in a jokingly fashion. Remus lowered his wand and helped dad up they shared a hug and I I could see that both uncle Remus and dad had missed each other a lot. I heard dad mutter 'I found him, peter, let's kill him.' Then Hermoine steped in front of Harry  and said 'NO, I TRUSTED YOU,' she shouted at Remus her voice wavering, out of control, 'and all the time you’ve been his friend!'  'You’re wrong,' said Remus. 'I haven’t been Sirius’s friend, but I am now — Let me explain…'
'NO!' Hermione screamed again. 'Harry, we can't trust him, he’s been helping Black get into the castle,
he wants you dead too — he’s a werewolf that's why he's been missing classes.'  There was a ringing silence. Everyone’s eyes were now on Remus, who looked remarkably calm, though rather pale. 'Not at all up to your usual standard, Hermione,' he said. 'Only one out of three, I’m afraid. I have not been helping Sirius get into the castle and I certainly don’t want Harry dead.' An odd shiver passed over his face. 'But I won’t deny that I am a werewolf, how long have you known?' He asked. 'Since professor Snape set the essay' Hermoine answered. 'Well, well, well Hermoine you really are the brightest witch of your age..' remus started but dad Interupted him and said ' enough talk Remus, let's kill him' 'WAIT' Remus said and dad shouted I DID MY WAITING, 12 YEARS OF IT IN AZKABAN' and in a softer tone he added 'and emma is still in there' 'alright you can kill him,' Remus said 'but wait just one more minute Harry has the right to know why.' 'I know why' Harry interupted 'you betrayed my parents, you're the reason they're dead.' Harry's voice was clearly full of anger. 'No, Harry it wasn't him' remus said 'somebody did betray them but it was somebody who, until recently I believed to be dead.' Remus finished. 'WHO WAS IT THEN?'Harry asked angrily. 'PETER PETTIGREW.' Dad said 'and he's here in this room'. This I didn't understand, dad had told me about peter and his animagus form, I looked around and my eyes fell on Ron who was still struggling with the rat in his hands while everything was going on. Suddenly it clicked, it is Scabbers, Scabbers is Peter in his animagus form. I looked at dad who was acting like a dramatic idiot again, when suddenly I heard a voice say 'Expelliarmus'

Snape steped into the room his wand pointing at dad. 'Oh vengeance is sweet,' snape said 'how I'd be the one to catch you.' 'Severus' remus said and Snape moved his wand from dad to Remus 'I told Dumbledore you were helping your old friend into the castle and look here's the proof.' snape said 'brilliant, Snape,' dad said sarcastically 'once again you put your keen and penetrating mind to the task and as usual you come to the wrong conclusion, now if you would excuse us Remus and I have some unfinished business to attend to' dad continued.
'Give me a reason, I beg you' Snape said his voice full of loathing 'Severus don't be a fool' Remus said 'he can't help it..' dad made himself ready to insult Snape again but Remus interrupted 'be quiet Sirius..' 'be quiet yourself Remus dad replied. 'Look at you two bickering like an old married couple' snape snapped 'why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set' dad spat towards Snape. 'I could do it you know,' Snape said 'but why deny the Dementors the one they're so longing to see'. This was the last drop for me since everyone's attention was pointed towards Snape and dad nobody noticed me transforming and pulling out my wand, not noticing what the rest was doing or saying I pointed my wand and Snape and said 'EXPELLIARMUS' Snape shot backwards against the wall and wad knocked out.

I looked towards Harry who had Hermione’s wand in his hand and he looked at me 'Where the bloody hel did you come from?' Ron asked 'I was siting on that chair the whole time Ron' I answered them I transformed into Missy and back again to show them. 'Your Missy, your an animagus?' Ron exclaimed sounding both impressed and disbelieving. I nodded and went to stand next to dad he gave me a small side hug. Then Harry interupted and said 'tell me about peter pettigrew.' 'He was at school with us' Remus started gesturing at himself and dad 'we thought he was our friend' 'no, pettigrew is dead,' Harry said 'you killed him' he continued pointing his wand at dad. 'I thought so too,' Remus continued again' until you mentioned seeing pettigrew on the map' 'the map was lying then' Harry said 'the map never lies, Harry' I said 'yes pettigrew is alive and he's right there' dad said while pointing at the squirming rat in Ron's hands. 'Me' Ron said 'he's mental' 'not you, boy your rat.' dad said 'Scabbers has been in my family for..  Ron started but dad Interupted '..12 years quite a long life for a rat, he is missing a toe isn't he?' 'All they could find of pettigrew was his..' Harry started but dad Interupted again '..finger, the coward cut it of himself so everyone would think he was dead and then he exploded the street to give himself time to escape and transformed so it would look like I did it. 'But how can he be an animagus he isn't registered I looked it up for the essay on animagi for proffesor Mcgonagall' Hermoine stated. 'Well when I was at school my transformations were really bad,' Remus started 'in my second year Sirius, Emma, peter and James found out about my condition, I was scared they wouldn't wanna be friends anymore but they did stay my friends and they did even more they became animagi to help me during my transformations, since they were still underage they did it unregistered' remus finished. 'My dad too?' Harry asked 'yes, Harry your dad too, we called ourselves the marauders, I am Moony, Sirius is Padfoot, Emma, Jessica mother, is Whithefoot James was prongs and Peter is wormtail' Remus explained. 'You made the map Harry said astonished. 'You see Harry my dad is innocent peter is an animagus. Harry suddenly looked determined again. 'Show me' Harry said. 'Ron give me Scabbers please' I said. 'What are you going to do to him?' he asked. I looked at Remus for help and he said 'we're gonna force Peter to detransform, if he really is a normal rat it won't hurt him' 'I looked back at Ron and he reluctantly gave the rat to me. I helt it tightly and gave it over to dad who placed the rat on the piano and nodded for Remus to stand ready and for me to block the door. Dad let go of the squirming rat and Remus started firing the spell, he missed the first time but the second time he hit and the rat started growing and eventually there stood a short man in front of us. 'hello, Peter.' Dad said.
