Y/N POV

I'm Y/N Hughes, Quinn and Jack's younger sister, and Luke's twin sister. I'm a freshman at the University of Michigan with Luke. I've watched my brothers play hockey all my life, but I've never been into sports, so I didn't reciprocate my brothers' passion for the sport. Quinn and Jack play in the NHL, and Luke was drafted a few months ago.

I was more into academics than athletics, which separated me from my brothers. I have always been more advanced at school than they were, but they had an incredible thing going athletically, so I don't blame them for choosing that route. Hockey is their passion, and school is mine.

"Please, Y/N, you have to go to my game!" Luke said pleadingly, with a slight frown on his face. I always came up with lame excuses to get out of going to his games so I wouldn't have to be within 100 feet distance of Owen Power.

If you're wondering why I don't want to be near him, to be honest, there isn't a valid reason. His presence just bugs me. I have him for my Economics class, and he doesn't stop talking to his friends or bugging our poor professor. It just annoys me.

Luke doesn't know about my hatred towards his teammate, but I have a feeling he knows there's someone on his team I'm trying to avoid. He's been bugging me to go to one of his games, and every time I come up with an excuse, which makes me feel so bad that I'm missing out just to avoid Owen. Of course, it's not fair to Luke, but I still say no anyways.

"I can't. I have a math test I have to study for," I said, sitting down on my bed. Luke traveled all the way from his dorm room to mine just so he could try and convince me to go to his game.

"You say that every time," Luke said, rolling his eyes. "I'm going to tell mom that you're not going to any of my games if you don't go."

"Okay? Tell her," I said, trying not to show that I was intimidated by Luke's threat. My mom's the sweetest person on the face of the Earth, but she's incredibly family orientated. She would be so disappointed to know I wasn't going to Luke's games and showing him my support, which makes me sad because I never want to disappoint my parents.

"I'll call her then," Luke said, dialing our mom's number. I instantly smacked the phone out of Luke's hands, making it fly across the room.

"Hey!" Luke yelled, mad that I knocked his phone out of his hand.

"Hello?" we heard our mom ask on the phone. I huffed and pointed my index finger at Luke before he could go and pick up his phone.

"Fine. I'll go to your stupid game," I whisper-yelled so our mom couldn't hear.

"Hello?" our mom asked again. Luke smirked and walked over to pick up his phone.

"Hi, mom. Sorry, I dialed you on accident," Luke said, making me narrow my eyes at him.

"No worries! Love you."

"Love you too," Luke said, hanging up on our mom. He smiled in satisfaction.

"I'll see you in a bit, Y/N," Luke said, indicating that he'll see me at his game.

"Whatever," I said in response, pushing him out of my dorm.

I walked to the arena, which wasn't too far off-campus. The cold air hit me instantly when I walked in, making me cross my arms over my chest. I tried to find a seat near the ice to watch my brother play more clearly. I saw him on the ice, warming up. He saw me too and nodded towards me, making me smile at him in return. I then see Owen watching Luke and trying to follow where his eyes were. When he saw me, he smirked, making me roll my eyes.

After the game, I walked to the lobby, waiting for my brother. I turn to my left after hearing a voice call my name. I saw Luke waving his hand towards me, indicating for me to go over to him. I walked over to him and smiled.

"Good game! Congrats on your win," I said, holding my hand out for him to shake. But instead, he looks down at it in confusion.

"I would give you a hug, but you're still in your equipment, and that's gross," I said, my hand still out for him to shake. He laughs and shakes my hand.

"Thanks," Luke said. "I actually came to get you because Owen's been wanting to tell you something, but you haven't shown up to a game until today."

I try to suppress both my redness and irritation.

"Really?"

"Yeah," Luke said, turning around for a moment. "In fact, there his is. Owen!"

Before I had time to run away, Owen looked over at us and ran towards me. I sighed, knowing I had to listen to whatever idiotic thing was going to come out of Owen's mouth.

"I'll catch you in a bit, Y/N. I'm going to go change," Luke said, walking away from us before I could beg him to stay.

"Hi," Owen said with a smile.

"Uh, hi?"

"How are you?"

"What do you need, Owen? Because I have never talked to you in my life, so what did you need to tell me?" I said with a hint of attitude.

"I like you," he said quickly. I looked at him as if he had two heads.

"What?"

"I like you," Owen repeated.

"This has to be some kind of joke," I said with a slight laugh. "Because if it is, you got me."

"I'm not joking," Owen said, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Prove it," I said challengingly.

"Be ready by seven tonight. I'll pick you up at your dorm. I'm taking you out."

I looked at him with a confused expression.

"So you aren't joking?"

"No," Owen said.

I contemplated whether I should go out with him tonight or not. I mean, I've never given him a chance. I was quick to judge him and his character. Maybe giving him a shot could bring something good.

"Fine. I'll see you tonight," I said with a slight grin. Owen smiles widely at me and kisses my cheek.

"You most certainly will," he said before walking away.
