☆Y/N POV☆
"Y/N, it was one time! It won't happen again!" my boyfriend, Evan, yelled, following me around his apartment as I packed my things lazily into my suitcase.
"That's what cheaters say, Evan! Once a cheater, always a cheater," I respond, shoving a few of my tops into the bag.
I decided it would be nice to visit my boyfriend for the weekend. But a few nights into my stay, I found him cheating on me with this girl after I went grocery shopping since I was planning on making Evan dinner. It was disgusting and heartbreaking.
"Fine! Pack your shit and go!" Evan yelled back. I threw the clothes in my hand down and turned around to face him.
"Don't fucking tell me what to do! I don't take orders from anybody, especially not cheaters!" I screamed, pointing my finger at him. "Stop victimizing yourself, Evan. This happened because of your actions."
"Well, I'm sorry. Please don't leave," Evan said; the once cold tone of voice was now calm. I looked at him as if he was losing all sense of logic, which he was, to be honest.
"Evan, you're giving me a headache," I said, rubbing my temples. "Stop manipulating me just because you made a mistake."
"I'm not manipulating you!"
"Yes, you are! You're doing it right now!"
"Is this how little you think of me? After everything we've been through?" Evan said, throwing his hands up against his sides.
"Stop! Stop it! Goodbye, Evan," I said, grabbing my suitcase and walking out the door.
I got in a taxi and told the taximan the first address that popped into my head. I knew a few people in town, but the first person I thought of was my ex, Jack. Jack and I broke up because he moved to play in the NHL. I don't know why I broke up with him, to be honest. I was scared, and I was only eighteen. But we kept in touch because we'd been friends longer than we had dated.
The taxi dropped me off at Jack's apartment. I got my suitcase and took the elevator to the eighth floor, where Jack lived. I knocked on his door a couple of times and waited for him to answer. Finally, Jack answered a couple of seconds later, standing there with a surprised look on his face and wearing nothing but plaid pajama pants and socks. He was shirtless and confused.
"Y/N? What are you doing-"
Interrupted by my sobs, Jack pulled me into his apartment and held me close to his body. I wrapped my arms around him and cried into his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry-" I tried to say but was interrupted by Jack shushing me.
"Shhh, it's okay."
Jack led us to his couch, where we sat down. I was still crying on his shoulder, and he was still running his hands through my hair.
"I'm sorry for coming unannounced. It's just that my boy... well, ex-boyfriend and I got into this huge fight. I caught him cheating on me when I got home from getting the groceries because I planned on making him dinner. I came all this way to come and see Evan, just for him to be swapping saliva with some other girl," I explained through shaky sobs. Jack stayed quiet and listened, nodding his head every now and then as I told my story.
"Anyways, I didn't know where to go. But then I remembered you lived here. So I took a taxi here, and well, now I'm here interrupting your night and sleep and being a burden. You know what, maybe this was a bad idea. I think I'm going to leave now," I said, standing up, but was immediately pulled back down on the couch by Jack.
"No. Stay," he said in a whisper. I licked my lips and looked down at his.
"Why did we break up?" I ask.
"I don't know. You were the one who broke up with me," Jack said with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry. That's my biggest regret," I said. But then, I felt Jack's hand move onto my cheek, and his thumb grazed my cheekbone.
"And letting you break up with me is mine," he said. "I should've gone after you. But I didn't. And I'll regret that forever. I'm sorry."
"You're forgiven."
Jack smiled and looked down at my lips. I leaned in close to his lips.
"Can I kiss you?" I ask softly. Jack nodded, leaned in, and kissed me.
My hands made their way to the back of Jack's head, where I softly began playing with the ends of his hair. One of his hands stayed on my cheek while the other made its way onto my waist. Jack slightly pushed me down on his couch and continued to make out with me.
I pulled away after a couple of minutes to catch my breath. Jack got off of me and sat down on the opposite end of the couch, away from me. I looked over at him and laughed.
"So are we going to pretend like we didn't just make out right now?" I ask, giggling. Jack laughed as well and scooted closer to me.
"I'm sorry. I just didn't know where we stood after that," Jack responded, scratching the back of his neck.
"Let's figure that out later, yeah?"
With that being said, we both leaned over to kiss each other again.
