Chapter 14: Let you go

Jungkook.

It was Jungkook who was standing in front of him. Just by looking at his face, Taehyung can tell Jungkook had cried. Even though he wanted to go to him and hug him, he didn't know why his feet were glued to the ground.

“What are you doing here? It's already late at night.” Taehyung started their conversation by asking him a question.

When Jungkook attempted to go near him, Taehyung stepped back to maintain the space between them.

“Why? Why are you doing this to me? I want to get close to you, but why are you building a wall between us?” Jungkook asked, looking at him with teary eyes.

“Wasn't this a good thing to do, Jungkook? I would like to get close to you too, but I don't know why I want to be in your arms right now. I thought I just wanted to be your friend but my heart is stupid. Every time I'm close to you, I can't stop myself from liking you. I hate that I felt that way to someone who will marry someone else. It hurts me, Jungkook.” Taehyung confessed, trying to smile, but his lips were trembling.

“It hurts me too, Taehyung, I just want to talk to you, but you are being distant to me. How could I tell you that I love you if you are being like this?” Tears fell from Jungkook's eyes.

Taehyung was biting his inner lip to prevent himself from crying. His heart was clenching just by seeing Jungkook crying in front of him.

“I'm sorry, I'm sorry because I can't accept your love for me. I think it's better to put an end between us, Jungkook. I don't want everything to get complicated.” Taehyung bitterly smiled.

“Can I… can I hug you for the last time?” Jungkook asked, staring at Taehyung with a hint of sadness in his eyes.

Wiping off his tears, Taehyung nodded his head. Jungkook ran towards him and hugged him tightly. He burst out in tears on Taehyung's shoulder, while Taehyung was sobbing silently.

Jungkook wished that they would stay like this. He doesn't want to let him go.

But he had to.

If things got worse, Taehyung would be in danger if he forced himself to be with him. And that's the one thing he would rather not happen.

Even if it hurts him, he had to let him go.

“I'm sorry for hurting you like this, I wished you to find someone who will make you happy, not just for the meantime like I did but forever. You deserved better, and that is something I can't give to you. Once I let you go, please don't look back on me, I'm afraid that I will chase you and won't let you go. This will be the end for us.” Jungkook stated, pulling away from the hug.

He had a smile on his face, it seemed to be a genuine one, but his eyes tell everything.

Taehyung put his hands on Jungkook's cheeks and wiped off his tears. Jungkook held Taehyung's hand, leaning on his touch. He even pecked Taehyung's palm while enjoying the warmth of Taehyung's hands on his cheeks.

“Thank you for everything, Jungkook. This is not the end I'm expecting, but we have no choice but to accept this. No matter what happened, please be happy without me. We are still young, there are a lot of things we can do. I loved you.”

Taehyung went closer to Jungkook and kissed him on the lips. Jungkook didn't hesitate to pull him closer by his waist and kissed him back. It was a bittersweet taste, it was also the first time that Jungkook gave a kiss to someone with feelings.

He wanted to do more than a kiss, but Taehyung pulled away, staring at him while panting.

“I should get going, Jin Hyung must be worried right now. Goodbye, Jungkook.”

Taehyung turned around and walked away. Jungkook wanted to reach him and tell him to stop, but he just watched him disappear from his sight.

When Taehyung arrived inside his house, he closed the door behind him and slid down on the floor. He hugged his knees and cried. He let out the pain he's been hiding since earlier. His cries are louder, his neighbors surely can hear him. But Taehyung could barely care about them, his heart was hurting as if he would pass out at any moment since it was an unbearable pain.

Heartbreak.

Taehyung didn't know how it would feel back then, he thought it wouldn't be that painful, but right now, he felt like his world collapsed. This is the pain he never felt before.

Why?

Why everything had to turn out like this?

Everything was doing fine, but why did it get ruined?

Was status in life important?

Why can't he be with Jungkook? Was that too much to ask?

“Taehyung, baby, what's wrong with you? Why are you crying?” Jin woke up because of his cries.

He didn't expect Taehyung would come home, crying like this. Taehyung looks so broken right now.

“Why? Did someone hurt you? Tell me, Taehyung, what's wrong?” Jin worriedly asked and knelt in front of Taehyung.

The younger boy just hugged him and cried on his chest. This is not the first time that Taehyung cried like this, but this is the first time he saw his so broken. He thought he won't see him cry again, but he was mistaken.

“It's okay if you don't tell me what happened, but Taehyung, can you please calm down? It hurts me to see you like this.” Jin uttered, feeling hurt seeing this situation again.

“Wuh-what should I do, Hyung? I have no Jungkook anymore. He's the only person I trusted. But now, I can't be with him.” Taehyung cried.

It seemed that he met Jungkook earlier, that's why he's being like this.

“It's okay, Taehyung, you can slowly forget him. I know that it will be difficult for you, but you can do it. You are starting to change, you can try to continue it without him, okay?” Jin told him.

Taehyung didn't respond, but he continued to cry. How could he start if the person who helped him get out of his shell left him?
