"Did she tell you why they did it?"

Your shoes sloshed about on the soggy ground of Seattle's rubble and overgrowth of grass. The sound of rain drizzling against the buildings, various dumps of hazardous remains and the two in front of you conversing was all that could be heard at that given moment.

You trailed a short distance behind them, still exhausted from staying up until your eyes watered and could barely stay open just to make sure Ellie slept after her encounter with Nora. You kept an arm securely wrapped around her waist, never daring to remove yourself from her tight hold throughout the night. Your girlfriend, the poor thing, had fallen asleep while whispering to you about various things. You could recall her fingers grazing your skin as if she was unsure of your presence, the trembles shuddering down her spine in the middle of the night.

Seattle was changing her. You could see it, you could feel it. As much as you wanted to deny it to yourself, to lie and say it was just the pressure of finding Abby, it wasn't. For the most part it was, but at the same time, the course of events had taken an impact on her. More so than she would let on.

You'd be lying to say it hadn't changed the way you felt about a few things too. About people in general, about this world you were born into, about everything. Ellie had given you something of an explanation on what she did to make the WLF talk and needless to say, it wasn't pretty. It explained the amount of blood coating her skin, temporarily staining her skin with blotchy, ruby liquid and plasma.

It wasn't like something you'd ever known Ellie to do before. Sure, you knew she'd done some bad things but not to that extent.

Ellie nods in response to Jesse's question, forming a subtle explanation that would cover the truth of the events that had happened so long ago. "Uh, yeah." She pauses, looking over her shoulder to make sure you're still there. When she's satisfied with your presence-she does note how sluggish you seem-she continues, "Joel had a falling out with some Fireflies. Now former Fireflies."

Jesse being Jesse, you knew he'd have questions. He admired Joel, he'd want to know what exactly was enough of a falling out to hunt someone down and torture them to death. "What kind of falling out?" He questions, which is not a surprise to you.

"He was a smuggler. They disagreed about... " Her voice fades, searching for another word. She can't tell him who they disagreed about. "some goods."

The path ahead of you is not accessible by any means, in fact it's entirely blocked off by vehicles swarmed in vines and other plant growth. Overhead there's an old convention center that Jesse suggests the three of you can potentially cut through on your way to the aquarium. Tommy would be there, hopefully.

While Jesse and Ellie agree on using the convention center as a shortcut, you kneel next to an almost closed off door. "Maybe we cut through here?" You suggest, steadily sliding underneath the blockage to get inside.
