It was early, but I wanted to make sure I knew what to go over with Rey. She was a natural with the saber. I was up the mountain swinging a large stick around, with my hands still tied. Chewie hid my saber and I wouldn't be able to find it until he wanted me to.
I spun around until I stopped, something was going on. I looked around me, seeing no one until I met his eyes, eyes I've known forever.
Kylo. Your face.
He was strangely calm, "Can you see my surroundings? I can't see yours. Just you."
"No, I can't." I look around.
"Where are you? I will send the Knights to come and get you."
Are you doing this? I knew our connection was strong, but I've never been able to see you like this.
"Maybe it is because we haven't ever been apart this long. Tell me where you are. Let me come and get you."
"I'm with Luke, the Resistance has me as their prisoner," I say holding my chained hands up.
"Storm, just in time. Let's go." I hear Luke say as he gets closer.
I looked down to him and Rey and back to Kylo, who was now gone.
I walked with them up the mountain and into a cave. I walk up front with Luke, where I used to stand as his right hand.
"Master Skywalker, we need you to bring the Jedi back because Kylo Ren is strong with the dark side of the Force. Without the Jedi, we won't stand a chance against him."
I stand on the cliff as they talk about the Force, I laugh at what Rey thinks of it.
"Lesson one, sit here, legs crossed." I could see a flashback of myself, in exactly the same position Rey was in.
Except now, I was being torn between the light and the dark. As Kylo was.
I sent him a message then blocked myself off. I couldn't have him find Luke and kill him. Kylo, I will find my way back to you, I swear.
Luke and Rey focused with the lesson, "Close your eyes. Breathe. Now, reach out." I watched her closely. Until she literally reached her hand out.
I smiled looked at Luke, who rolled his eyes. Too many of his students doing this. He held his leaf up to Rey's hand, she gasped and smiled. "I feel something."
"You feel it?"
"Yes, I feel it."
I join it, "That's the Force."
"Really?"
"Wow, it must be really strong with you."
"I've never felt any- Ow."
Luke and I both looked at her, "You meant reach out like.." She put her hand to her heart. I nod my head at her.
"Breathe. Just breathe. Reach out with your feelings. What do you see?"
"The island. Life. Death and decay, that feeds new life. Warmth. Cold. Peace. Violence." I could feel what she was describing.
"And between it all?"
"Balance. An energy. A Force. And inside me that same Force."
"And this is the lesson. That Force does not belong to the Jedi."
Wow, this went totally different than I thought.
"Luke." I try to interrupt
"To say that if the Jedi die, the light dies, is vanity. Can you feel that?"
"There's something else, beneath the island. A place." I go into her mind and see it. "A dark place."
"Balance. Powerful light, powerful darkness." Luke explained.
"It's cold. It's calling me."
The cave started to crack little by little, I hold onto her arm.
Rey, follow my voice. Resist it.
The dark cave roars and it splashes both Rey and me. We pant coming out of it.
"You went straight to the dark."
"That place was trying to show us something." I say.
"It offered something you needed. And you didn't even try to stop yourself." Luke accused.
"I didn't see you. I saw Storm, but nothing from you." Rey said her heart still racing.
"You wouldn't of. Luke has closed himself off from the Force." I say.
"Of course you have."
"I've seen this raw strength only once before, in Ben Solo. It didn't scare me enough then. It does now."
Luke walked away from us, and I couldn't believe it. I had heard Kylo's side but I needed to hear it from Luke. I left Rey to go after him. Luke. Luke!
He kept walking away from me, eventually, I froze him in place and caught up. I unfroze him as I stand in his way. "What do you want?"
Tell me what happened that night. Every detail.
"I don't have to tell you anything."
You're right, I can just dig it out of your head. I've done it plenty of times before.
"What happened to you? The Nova I trained would never turn to the dark side."
Right again.
He looked at me, waiting to explain.
Kylo found me before I could run into the burning temple to save any of my students. He brought me to the Finalizer and I sat in a cell, not speaking for a year. I held out hope that you or Leia would come to save me because that's what I always believed in. One of the only reasons I turned was to bring Ben back, I saw conflict in him. I still do. After Han, his mind is a warzone the light fighting the dark. I was brought back to Leia, who made me come here, instead of going back to my Fiance.
"Fiance?"
He proposed before I was captured.
