Everything was a little blurry at first, but after a couple blinks of his eyes, Naruto could see clearly. There were a few things he noticed when everything became clear: How hungry he was, how sore he was, and how warm he was. Despite all of those things, he felt comfortable. Naruto attempted to sit up, but something caught his eye. Something that he should've spotted earlier. It was Sasuke. His head was buried into Naruto's chest, and his hair sprawled out on his face. Naruto froze- should he wake Sasuke up?
He's... really there. He saved me. I guess he wasn't too broken up about our fight. Naruto thought to himself, biting his lip. Naruto could see that Sasuke was sleeping soundly, and he could only imagine the journey Sasuke took to come and save him. He decided to let Sasuke rest for a little longer.
Naruto also looked down to see that he didn't have his own shirt on. It was a black shirt that looked a lot like the one Sasuke wore to training sometimes.
Is this his shirt? I guess he gave it to me after the goons took mine away to look at the seal. Naruto's thoughts were racing. He wanted to wake Sasuke up to ask him about what exactly happened, but... he was so cute sleeping like this. Naruto's next decision was a risky one- but he felt that it was definitely worth a try. Since he was laying on his side, he got the arm closest to the ground and guided it under Sasuke's head to hold it. His other hand, the one closest to the clear sky, was guided over Sasuke's side to pull his body closer. Most of their body was now touching.
It's so... warm. He smells so good. Gosh, I could really stay like this forever. He kept thinking, now getting a little too excited. He suddenly heard Sasuke make a small noise in his sleep, which only increased the cuteness of it all. Naruto wondered how Sasuke ended up so closely beside him. Had Sasuke finally returned the feelings Naruto had started to feel ever since the kiss? He heard Sasuke make a few more noises, but it seemed like he was waking up. Naruto cherished the last few moments in case Sasuke woke up and punched him into next week. His eyes fluttered open.
"Mmn.." He uttered. Sasuke was in a groggy state, but he realized he wasn't alone. He moved his head back to see Naruto's wide-eyed face. He tried to back up, but Naruto's hand on his back prevented it.
"Ack, N-Naruto! Let go of me!" He exclaimed, one of his hands over Naruto's mouth and one on the hand that was touching his lower-back. Naruto tried to speak, but it was muffled by Sasuke's hand. So he decided to lick Sasuke's hand. Sasuke yanked his hand back and rubbed it on his shirt.
"I'm not letting go! I need to be in the arms of my savior!" He would chuckle, now pulling Sasuke in even closer, giving him a hug. Sasuke would continue to struggle, but he wasn't using all of his force. His cheeks would grow increasingly pink. Naruto would take notice of this and take his chances, he had nothing to lose. He put his hand back onto Sasuke's head and guided it to his lips, joining the two in a solid, sudden kiss. Naruto's eyes were closed, but his teammate's were wide open. Sasuke would slowly melt into the kiss, but not for long. Sasuke wouldn't struggle anymore. He was done fighting.
"Naruto, you..." He spoke softly after he pulled away from the kiss, his cheeks now visibly red. "You..." He trailed off. There wasn't anything he could think to say. He just put his head down and continued to lay there with Naruto. Naruto decided to take the lead.
"Sasuke, why did you come out here and save me?" Naruto asked him. Sasuke would huff.
"You're my teammate. It's what a good ninja should do." He blankly stated. That's the answer he thought was appropriate. But it wasn't the true answer, and Naruto knew it. Naruto put some of his fingers on Sasuke's chin and guided it back so that Sasuke was looking at him. Sasuke averted his gaze.
"You're hiding something, teme. I'll hold you captive right here until you tell me the truth." He spoke, a bit more sternly this time. Sasuke narrowed his brow, putting on an annoyed face, now trying to struggle out again.
"Just- let me go, Naruto! I don't have to explain anything to you." He said, shoving Naruto's face away from his. Naruto was stubborn, so he only tightened the grip he had on Sasuke. Naruto knew Sasuke wouldn't do anything to hurt him with the injuries he had. Sasuke gave up. He knew the only way to get out of this without killing Naruto would be to just come out clean.
"I..." he started, trailing off quickly, "I was worried about you. I was afraid of what could've happened after our fight." He put his head back down, embarrassed.
Why is it that I always become so... vulnerable around him? So weak? He thought, wondering what Naruto would come up with to say next. Naruto loosened his grip on Sasuke, permitting him to let go.
"I'm glad." Naruto simply put, closing his eyes and sighing happily. Sasuke made a confused face, now looking up at his teammate.
"That's.. it?" He asked in a reserved manner. He was surprised Naruto wasn't doing something loud after Sasuke's confession. Naruto would nod.
"Mm-hmm. I'm glad that you care about me." Naruto would chuckle slightly. Sasuke scoffed.
"You're..." Sasuke would pause for a moment. "Ridiculous." He would say, but not with his usual sourness. Instead, he'd chuckle after his words and give Naruto a slight smile, though he would still avert his gaze.
Sasuke realized that Naruto had loosened his grip on him. He could've got up and walked to the opposite side of their little camp, away from him.
Yet, again, he stayed.
