The Strong Smurf:

I touched up the last of my makeup and tightened the ballerina bun, that was currently sitting on my head. I was dressed in a white bandou with faded blue overalls over. The overalls were cut short, with ripping holes in the shorts portion. I wore white convers on my feet, with handmade rope bracelates, wrapped around my left ankle. After I finally left the bathroom, I grabbed my white Jansport backpack and began to head down the stairs.

When I reached the banister, I hesitated by my mom's bedroom door. I didn't know if I should let her know I was leaving or just let her be. I tilted my head, as I considered my decision. I sighed, as I continued past her door and down the stairs. I decided to just let her be, and not risk disturbing her peace. Besides, she might as well get the rest she needs for later.

I decided that I was going to take the doctors advice and take mom to Bailey's tomb. Maybe we could say a few words about her and just finally bond together. You know?

Anyways, I locked the front door behind me and started to my car. As soon as I slipped my seatbelt on, my phone began to rang.

Manage me, I'm a mess, turn a page, I'm a book, half unread.

Almost just as soon as it began to rang, I knew by the ringtone who it was.

"Les? I'm already on my way, I just got in the car." I said, already knowing what it was she called me for. I was running a little late to pick her up for school. We were sort of excited for lots of reasons. For one, she was going back to public school. Because she traveled so much, she usually was home-schooled, but every year (this time of year) she goes to public school with me. We were also excited because we only had two weeks of school left.

Thank God, June is finally here, I thought to myself. It has been a pretty chaotic year, to be honest. Summer is just around the corner, and I am so very thankful for that.

"Hurry, I don't want to be late for my first day of school!" She said, teasingly. She knows that she's lucky, because she only has to attened two weeks of school, while I had to attened a full school year. I rolled my eyes, but smiled anyway. I clicked off the phone and pulled out of my driveway.

I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open, as I rested my chin on the palm of my hand. Ms. Sengovia was going on and on about U.S. history, and I think half the class was not paying attention, because they were too busy not caring. Just as I started to feel myself dozing off, I felt the tip of a crisp folded paper hit the back of my neck. I slowly opened my eyes, annoyed and disrupted, and slowly turned behind me, to see who the culprit was.

A couple of guys snickered in the back, as if it were the funniest thing in the world. I rolled my eyes and turned back around. I positioned myself back into place and closed my eyes again.

"Psst!" I heard one of the guys whisper from behind me. I knew they were trying to get my attention, but I just ignored them.

"Pssssst! Aye, Smurf! Over here!" Said the first one.

"Yeah, here Smurfy Smurfy! Look over here!" Chanted the second. I remained in place, and didn't even bother to turn around. Then another paper airplane came crashing into my neck. I was trying so hard not to let them get to me, but it was really hard, when all I wanted to do was snap their necks.

"Hey, Smurf! Take your ugly overalls off, and dance for us!" Teased the first one. Kay, now I was getting pissed. Hey, I get a little defensive when it comes to my wardrobe, if you haven't noticed, already.
