one of you shall betray me
RIVERDALE HIGH
SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2017
RIVERDALE
Mia traced the tip of her pen against the numerous beakers and test tubes that lined her desk, the pink burst of sparkly fur collecting months worth of dust. Serena sat next to her, tracing the squiggles the blonde had doodled all up the arm of her skin. They mindlessly ignored Cher, who whispered furiously about her latest hookup, when instead she really should have been paying attention to the reproductive system they were being taught about.
No one in the room turned to Sheriff Keller and Principal Weatherbee standing in the doorway, all enamored with their pointless past-times. It was only when Cheryl scraped her stool viciously against the floor, demonstrating her shrew disposition, that Mia snapped out from her dream-like state.
''You're here for me, aren't you?'' She questioned, taking a stand in the centre of the classroom. ''Because of the autopsy?''
Mia leaned closer to Serena, so only she could hear. ''Attention seeking, as usual,'' she whispered, blowing the bubblegum in her mouth, ''does she not get bored peddling the same poor victim act?''
''We don't need to do this in front of your classmates, Cheryl.'' Weatherbee grunted.
''It's alright, Principal Weatherbee,'' she muttered, holding out her arms, wrists touching ''they'll find out soon enough.''
''Now, that won't be necessary.'' Keller comforted, shaking his head at the redhead.
''Wait, Cheryl,'' Veronica intervened, ''find out what?''
