Penelope had waited for so long, honestly the only thing she wanted right know was to see the smile on Hope's face. Nothing else.

It was a good day, so when she got home she got wrapped in Hope's arms immediately.

"I missed you!" She said after kissing Hope on cheeks for the third time.

"Me too" Hope hugged Penelope tightly.

"hey, I got something for you" Penelope said pulling away.

"Oh!...are you okay? Your face looks weird"

Penelope realized then that her cheeks hurt from smiling for so long.

"yeah yeah, come sit down"

"Okay..." Hope said, letting herself get dragged by Penelope to desk beside their bed.

"Here"

Penelope said shoving a thick envelope on Hope's hands.

She really should have thought this through. She sucked at surprises.

Hope gave her a weird look but then started to open the package.

"HOLY SHIT"

Penelope smiled

"What is all this money for, oh my god, Penelope this like, a lot! Wait. Is this THAT money. What..."

"Oh wait! There's more" Penelope said just remembering, and she pulled a another envelope out of her back pocket.

"Here"

Hope grabbed it and read it, a look of confusion on her face.

"Tickets... to California" her voice faded as she read. Penelope could almost hear the gears in Hope's brain trying to catch up to Penelope.

Finally her face started to change; her hand went to her mouth with an almost inaudible gasp.

"Pen..."

"We got you registered. Now it's time to chase your dream Hopey!"

Hope was still speechless.

When she finally looked up, her eyes were so filled with tears that a couple dropped at the first blink.

"Hopey?"

After that Penelope only remembers almost losing balance from Hope jumping to hug her and then her smaller body shaking with a loud sob. Penelope knew though, that this wasn't like the ones she heard in the dark nights before, this one was different, this one felt better, like it was letting off a lot of pain, like it could turn into laughter at any point, like there was a huge weight being lifted from both of them.

Penelope cried too.

“Oh my God, Penelope. This is so great. When- how did this happen?” Hope asks pulling away slightly.

“Jojo helped” a blush covers Penelope's face. She tries to hide her face in Hope's neck.

“Oh my god, that is so cute! Did you ask her out?”
