Macey sighed as she laid on her roof, Quinn lying beside her. They looked up at the stars, an open bag of Cheetos sitting beside them. Macey stated to identify the constellations in her head. The Orion, the Mu--
"What's wrong?" Quinn asked, popping another Cheeto in her mouth.
"My yearly family reunion is this Saturday." Macey replied, popping a Cheeto in her mouth.
Macey hated family reunions. She wasn't ready to hear her cousins with fake boobs criticize her, who the hell do they think they are? She also wasn't ready for her aunts to ask her about a boyfriend and try to give her a makeover. The only person she was happy to see was her grandma, Marie. Marie was surprisingly super cool. She had the coolest stories to tell.
"That sucks."
Macey scoffed, "My mom wants me to get a date."
Quinn's quickly sat up, "Paxton."
Macey's eyes widened as she sat up, "What?"
"Ask Paxton." She suggested.
Macey chuckled softly, "He wouldn't go with me. And plus, my family would totally embarrass me in front of him and I would lock myself in my room and never leave."
Quinn smiled, "He'd totally go with you."
Macey sighed.

Was she really about to do this? I mean, this is Paxton Hall-Yoshida here, not Jared from math class who constantly sniffs Macey's hair. Does she even need a boy? She's an independent, beautiful, strong, sma-- well, I guess she's doing it.
She was now standing in front of Paxton while he was at his locker. He looked at her and smiled, "Hey."
"Hey. I have to ask you something." She replied, her palms becoming sweaty.
"What is it?"
"So, my family reunion is this Friday and my mom really wants me to have a plus-one. If you're not busy, would you possibly wanna go with me?" Macey asked, eager for an answer.
He chucked, "Sure."
She smiled, "Cool. I'll see you later!"
She walked away, biting her bottom lip. Paxton watched her leave until she was out of sight, smiling.

It was finally Saturday, and Macey had probably already had three mental breakdowns and it was only 10am. She sat at her vanity, no makeup on, hair tangled, "I've got work to do."
She curled her hair, did her makeup, put on her silky, light green dress, and then had another mental breakdown. Luckily, her mascara was waterproof. She was terrified. What if her cousin, Lucy, spilled her secret about the time she lost her bikini top in the pool freshman year. Or the time she threw up on her crush at the carnival. Maybe even the time in seventh grade she put gum in the principal's hair because she wouldn't let her protest for the safety of turtles.
"Hey. You ready to go?" Her mom asked as she entered Macey's room.
Macey sighed, "I think."
"So, you have a date right?"
Macey rolled her eyes, "Yes, mom. He's giving me a ride so I don't have to ride with you phsycos." Macey said, her tone playful.
Her mom smiled, placing a kiss on Macey's forehead, "You look great."
"Thanks."
They both walked outside to see Paxton's jeep pulling up. Luke soon followed outside, "So, is Aleena our blood cousin?"
"What?" Jenny asked.
"I mean, she's kinda hot." Luke shrugged.
"No, she's a cousin but not blood, so go for it." Jenny replied, patting Luke's shoulder.
"I'll see you guys there!" Macey smiled before getting into Paxton's jeep.
He smiled, "So, is this considered a date?"
She froze as she was putting her seatbelt.
