Paxton

Hey, it's me, Matt Damon. I'm not sure why I'm here, but I am. Anyways, Macey still sat frozen in her seat. Seeing her so in shock was a sight to see. When Macey didn't answer, Paxton became nervous.

"I'm kidding." He lied. He feared rejection, so he covered it up as a joke.

She chuckled lightly, "Oh."

When the pair arrived, Macey took a deep breath. Paxton turned to Macey, "It'll be fine."

She sighed, "If I end up murdering one of my cousins, don't be surprised."

"I'm guessing you don't have a good relationship with your cousins." Paxton concluded.

She nodded, "Yup."

"Well, I'm sure everything will be fine. Come on." Paxton reassured her as they exited the car.

Jenny and Luke approached the two. Luke turned to Macey, "You ready?"

"Pfft no." Macey replied.

Luke's face lit up, "There's Aleena. Gotta bounce."

Paxton didn't understand why Macey hated her family reunion's until that day. They walked in, Jenny making her way to her siblings. Macey went straight to the drinks, Paxton following.

"You okay?" Paxton asked as he watched her take a lemonade.

"I'm good." She answered, taking a long sip of her lemonade. He picked a cup up, taking a sip as well.

Soon, a girl with beach blonde hair approached the two, a forged smile across her plump lips. She had a drink in her hand, which Macey already knew had alcohol within it. She held a cupcake in her other hand, "Hey, Macey. Hi...."

"Paxton." He introduced, shaking the girl's hand.

"Paxton." She repeated, "Nice to meet you. I'm Rayne, Macey's cousin."

Macey nodded, taking a long sip of her drink out of clear frustration. By the time she set the cup back on the table, the cup was empty.

"Take it easy there with your lemonade." Paxton joked, causing unnecessary laughter from Rayne. The joke was clearly dry humor, but Rayne somehow found it hilarious. Paxton smiled uncomfortably. Macey took some more lemonade, chugging it.

A girl with long, silky black hair, which was pulled up in a ponytail, approached the three. She was wearing a simple black dress, along with black Doc Martens. She seemed annoyed, "Rayne."

Rayne turned, rolling her light, blue eyes, "Yeah?"

"You know, you should really lay off the carbs." The girl suggested.

Rayne's eyes traveled to the cupcake in her hand, then back up at the girl, "I-I gotta go."

Rayne ran off, Macey and the girl laughing. Paxton chuckled, "What was that?"

"Me messing with Rayne. She's a bitch." The mysterious girl said, causing Macey to giggle. She seemed like she was out of it. The girl looked at Paxton, "I'm Fiona. And you are?"

"Paxton."

Fiona nodded, "Figured."

Paxton looked at her quizzingly, "What?"

"Nothing. We should go hang out in the corner and judge the rest of the family." Fiona suggested, Macey smiling brightly. It was clearly a joke, but Macey seemed to like the idea.

"Best. Idea. Ever!" Macey gushed, worrying Paxton. She was usually very shy, but after drinking some 'lemonade', she didn't seem like herself.

Fiona made eye contact with Paxton, the same thoughts as his written all over her face. They did indeed head to the corner after Macey grabbed another drink. Paxton leaned in, whispering in her ear, "Are you drunk?"

Macey laughed, "Pfft, no. Why would you think that?" And as if on cue, she stumbled, holding the wall to steady herself, "Okay. I may be a little tipsy, but we can still have a good time."

Paxton's eyes widened.

"We're getting you home." He insisted, grabbing her hand and trying to lead her to the door.

"I don't wanna go." She wined.

"What? You're the one that said you hate family reunions." Paxton said, eye brows furrowed.

"That was until I had some lemonade." She said, winking.

"Why the hell would you do that?" He asked in a whisper.

"Because I needed a drink. Plus, the guy I like doesn't like me back and my dad is still dead." She replied, almost casually, "Extreeeeemely dead. But I'm fine."

"I'm gonna tell your mom you don't feel well and I'm taking you home." He said sternly, yet softly, "Stay here."

Macey plopped down in a nearby chair, pouting. Paxton was then approached by Rayne, once again. He sighed before turning to her, "What?"

"Sheesh. I thought you were friendly." She said jokingly.

"Well, I guess you were wrong." He hissed, attempting to push past her. She then stopped him, smirking. He furrowed his eye brows.

"What are you doing here with Macey?" She inquired, her hand on his chest.

"She asked me to come." He replied, taking her hand off of his chest, "I have to go."

"We haven't even had fun yet." She said, grinning and showing her perfectly straight, white teeth. She raised an eyebrow.

Paxton scoffed before pushing through the crowd, Rayne frowning. He eventually found Macey's mother and said she wasn't feeling well, and he quickly made his way to Macey, trying to avoid Rayne. She then bumped into Fiona.

"You okay?" Asked Fiona. Paxton just simply nodded before walking away, Fiona furrowing her eye brows.

He found Macey in the same position she was in before, arms crossed over her chest. He approached her, "You good?"

Macey nodded. She seemed a bit more sober, which was weird. Before, she was giggling uncontrollably and now she seemed.... normal. She scoffed, "I'm such a screw up."

Paxton furrowed his eye brows, "What?"

"I don't know why I got drunk. I'm so stupid." She said, her words slurring a bit. She put her face in her hands.

Paxton sighed, "No, you're not. We should go before Barbie comes over here."

Macey met his eyes, a slight smile across her lips, "Rayne?" Paxton nodded, causing Macey to giggle.

And after that, Paxton drove Macey home, and let's just say Macey was a tad.... embarrassed the next Monday at school.
