He looked at you shocked, before holding you close "You're serious?" you nodded and pointed at the 3 tests that laid on the bathroom counter. "I love you so much, we're going to have a little baby" he whispered a huge smile on his face.
Overview
The male had started to look into teaching positions at the FBI Academy and nearby colleges when he heard the news of the pregnancy. He wanted to raise his family without the stress of missing their first steps or their first words because he was in another state.
He kept his job search a secret not wanting to quit the BAU just yet, especially with the statistics of miscarriages within the first trimester. It was best to keep it a secret until then, or until he was hired at one of the universities. Granted he loved the BAU, he wasn't ready to give that part of his life up, he would just limit his time in the field and out of state.
The male agent entered the office building, his satchel slung across his body. He showed his badge to the security officer, before heading up to the sixth floor. He hated having to leave Y/N alone, he wanted to take care of her and their baby, making sure she was eating enough and wasn't going through too much stress.
Spencer Reid walked into the bullpen, a small smile forming as he saw his team that he had grown close to over the previous years. He looked over at JJ, giving her a sympathetic smile. Will had gotten into a car accident a few weeks ago, Spencer had watched Henry for her with Y/N. He survived but it was taking a while for him to recover.
Morgan made his way over to Spencer's desk, leaning against the mahogany surface. "So pretty boy any news, you've been happy every day" Spencer shrugged at him "Y/N and I are just getting closer" He explained technically it wasn't a lie, the couple had grown closer as they prepared for their new family.
Y/N was selling her apartment, moving in with him, Elizabeth agreed to take Casper in, letting her visit whenever she wanted to. The couple cleaning out the spare room that Spencer had, to make room for a nursery.
Morgan shook his head "There has to be more than that, come on, did you guys get engaged?" He asked and the younger agent shook his head "Not yet" He whispered softly "Is she moving in?" "Yeah, she is" He admitted not saying the real reason why. Morgan chuckled and pulled the younger agent into a hug "I'm happy for you" he whispered into his ear.
Spencer nodded, hearing his personal cell ring. He pulled away from the embrace, checking the caller ID 'Unknown Number', he answered the phone "Dr. Spencer Reid" listening for a response "Hi Dr. Reid, This is George Mason University we were wondering if you would like to run our new Criminal Psychology program"
The possibilities kept running through his mind, he couldn't make that decision just yet. "Can I get back to you on that?" His voice hushed so his coworkers wouldn't hear. There was a pause before he heard the voice return "We need to know within the next week" He heard before the line went dead.
.........
He explained the job opportunity over dinner that night "Well what do you want dear" He heard the soft voice of his girlfriend, he sighed "I really want to teach profiling, I might be able to do that there but there's a better chance at the Academy" He confided "Then call the academy again, you're one of the best agents, you have enough field experience to teach a couple of courses" She assured him as she grabbed his hand.
He nodded softly "Thank you" he spoke breaking the silence that had filled the room. "For what love" She tilted her head at her boyfriend "For being you and being here with me, I never thought any of this was ever going to be possible" He whispered to her a few tears forming in his eyes. She got up sitting on his lap, her fingers finding their way to his hair. "Hey, I'm never leaving you, I'm going to stay with you until you're last breath" She responded as she played with his hair. He smiled holding her close to his chest, the two sitting in the silence.
..........
A couple of weeks later Spencer had received a call from the academy. They agreed that he could start a teaching position and help the BAU with some of his students on cases that were based close to Virginia.
The agent walked into the sixth floor of the FBI building, seeing the team that had become his family over the past years. His anxiety was high wondering if they would accept him leaving and not be pissed at him.
Spencer cleared his throat to get the attention of the 6 members standing around the bullpen, "Can everyone meet me in the conference room in 5?" He asked his voice faltering ever so slightly. He set his bag down on the desk before heading up to the conference room.
He took some deep breathes trying to shake his nerves. As his friends took their seats around the table he looked at each member barely keeping eye contact for more than a few seconds. "I have some good and bad news," he started his voice just above a whisper "The academy has offered me a position to lecture and teach criminal profiling" he continued his voice returning to normal.
His eyes had found a specific spot on the wall behind the team. "You're leaving?" They asked softly in a sad tone, "I'll still help on cases in Virginia and on the phone for other cases but I won't be going out into the field" he finished as his eyes flickered between the members of his team and the spot on the wall.
"What's the good news?" they asked, knowing it had to be something big for Reid to fully leave the BAU. "Y/N's pregnant, I'm gonna be a dad"
A/N - I hope you liked this chapter, again it's for the best that Spence leaves the BAU to start a family.
