Chapter 16

You smiled as you shifted to the top of the bed, watching him do the same as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder, starting to read the book to you as you nuzzled into his chest. You had read the book in middle school, but it had been so long that you wanted to reread it.

Overview

Spencer Reid had been planning to get together with his family. Garcia and him had been planning it over the past two months. It just so happened that the team had returned from a case on the couple's 6 month anniversary. The team agreed to meet at Rossi's mansion.

As soon as Spencer arrived home, he smiled looking at his girlfriend curled up in their bed, sleeping soundly. He made his way over to her side of the bed leaning down and whispering in her ear "Morning sleepyhead, I have a surprise for you" watching her stir slightly before speaking a little louder to wake her up.

Yawning and rubbing at her eyes sleepily, she smiled softly. "Mm what is it?" she asked trying to wake up fully. "We have a party to go to" he replied getting up, looking for something more suitable for Rossi's. She giggled as she sat up staring at him "You never want to go to a party" she stated, her hand falling to the more prominent bump, she was about 4 months along. "Where is it and who's going to be there?" He turned around with a smile "You'll find out I promise you will love it" she nodded before getting up to get ready.

The two arrived at Rossi's mansion and she grinned as she got out hearing some familiar voices. She adjusted her dress, she wanted to hide her bump, Spencer came over wrapping his arm around her waist "They already know love, you don't have to hide it" He assured her as they made their way inside.

Rossi smiled as the two entered hugging Y/N first and kissing her forehead "Benvenuta" he spoke, before going to hug Spencer. She saw Garcia running towards her, "It's been so long and oh my god Spencer wasn't lying" She gasped as her hand went to the bump. Y/N giggled and shook her head "He wasn't now let's go catch up"

Garcia dragged her over to the rest of the team that was outside on the patio. Garcia made sure that you sat next to her. "How are you doing" Emily's voice came as she looked at the newcomer. "Tired" were the first words to leave her mouth before "I haven't had a day off in a long time" she finished. She listened to what was going on in the team's lives, her thoughts wandering to what Spencer was doing.

Spencer smiled at Rossi "Thank's for letting me do this, I just want everything to be perfect" his voice came out, as he kneaded the pasta dough. The Italian man smiled back at him "I'm glad to help you, the team will distract her for long enough" he spoke as he watched the younger made start to roll out the dough.

The older man helped him, telling him what to do once it was to the desired thickness. As soon as the pasta was boiling, he spoke up "Can I see it?" the question startling Spencer before he nodded grabbing out the small velvet box and handing it over to him.

"There's only been one time that he's ever lost at poker and I swear that was the happiest day in my life" Emily shared as the team smiled recalling their happy memories with Spencer. Morgan started "Mm Garcia and him wanted to kill me one time" as he recalled the events of the fit test he made them take. The pregnant woman started to laugh at the story, Garcia glaring at her "I would have loved to see that". Morgan recalled the traumatic time that the two spent stuck in the elevator. She smiled at all of the stories of Reid looking back as she heard the voice of Rossi behind them. "Mm dinner is ready everyone"

She smiled as she followed the team into the dining area, her smile widen as she saw Spencer. "There you are" he smiled and nodded wrapping his arms around her waist "Mm I wanted to make the dinner for everyone" his words surprised her "Seriously? You made homemade pasta?" She asked watching him nod "Ask Rossi he watched me" she sighed but nuzzled closer to him "I love you so much"

After dinner, the group gathered around outside. Rossi had put on some soft music, Garcia had dragged the girls out to dance in the grass not caring how slow the music was. Y/N smiled softly as she danced looking back at Spencer who was fidgeting with something in his pocket. She walked over to him and dragged him to the girls and Morgan. "Dance with me?" He chuckled before nodding "One dance" she smiled leaning against his chest as they swayed to the music.

The couple smiled at each other, everything faded out around them, focusing on the other and only them. She smiled up at him kissing his cheek softly as they dance to the song. She hummed along to the music, "Take me into your loving arms, kiss me under the light of a thousand stars" she whispered the lyrics to him softly.

As the song finished she smiled, feeling Spencer's arms release her she was about to rejoin the girls before she saw Spencer get down onto one knee out of the corner of her eye. She gasped softly, he looked up at her before starting his speech.

"Y/N, When I first met you I had completely given up on love, I never thought that I deserved to be loved, that I deserved to be happy" he started as her hand went to her mouth, "It wasn't until you started to call me after the case was over, just talking about random things. You knew how I felt, you would show up at my doorstep to spend time with me after a hard case"

"Hell, you left a girls night just to make sure I got home safe and to make sure I was okay. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my nights without you in them. Every second you were the thing going through my mind. I didn't care about anyone or anything else. I knew I loved you and needed you in my life."

"You helped me adjust back to normal life, you comfort me and make sure that I'm okay after I wake up from a nightmare. You became my new normal. I knew when we started dating 6 months ago that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. You're giving me what I've always hoped for, a happy ending"

"So what I mean to say is, will you marry me?" he finished as he grabbed the velvet box from his pocket quickly opening it. "I-" She started at a loss for words, before nodding her head, tears falling from her eyes "Yes I will" she whispered smiling as Spencer slid the ring on her finger.

She looked around at the team and saw them all smiling at both of them. Garcia had a stray tear falling. "I'm so excited for the two of you when's the wedding" Garcia started to ask causing the woman to laugh "At least after the baby comes" She spoke softly as she nuzzled into Spencer's chest.

The couple said their goodbyes smiling at their friends, they had spent the past hour or so talking about what they thought the future would look like, guessing the gender of their baby, asking about wedding party details. The couple just shook their heads, tuning out the questions of the team as they nuzzled with each other.

It was about 9:30 when they were leaving, the rest of the team decided to leave soon too seeing as they had work the next day. They stayed inside waiting for the couple to leave, commenting on Spencer's proposal up until they heard the crash, and a faint scream from Spencer.

They rushed outside and down the driveway, Spencer was out of the car, crouching on the passenger side, his hands were holding pressure to the injuries on Y/N as he shouted for them to call an ambulance.
