The sympathy in his eyes was overwhelming, I sat up and nodded a thank you.
"Annabeth-" he starts.
"Don't even start to blame yourself for this." I say.
His eyes do all the talking as I bring him down for a kiss.
********=^-^=********
Our arms are filled with party supplies and and everything is almost done. Piper set up a food table, it looked very decorative. I saw the guys bonding as they hung up silly Christmas decorations and laughed until they fell over. Everything was perfect.
Percy sets his box with the others and quickly grabs mine from me. I try to give him a scolding look, but it's hard staring into those sea green eyes.
Everyone is smiling and laughing, my heart is fluttering with glee.
I have a list of things to do, first is pop in a movie for us and bake some Christmas cookies.
I choose Elf the movie and grab decorative cookie cutters from a the bag of baking supplies.
I lay them all out, snowmen to Santa and gingerbread galore. Preheating the oven, I go over to where Piper was sitting.
"Hey." She smiled a dazzling, cheery smile.
"What's up?" I plop down on the couch next to her.
"Watching the guys." She points to them, seeing who could chug eggnog the fastest.
We both busted out laughing as Frank started choking, then as did the others from laughing.
Catching our breath, I put the movie in the player. I knew no one would really watch it, I just wanted a Christmas movie. Plus, we had seen it countless times.
The night continued on, soon we were all lying on the floor looking up at the stars on soft Christmas fleece blankets.
It was almost 2 in the morning, and Hazel and Frank looked ready to turn in for the night. Leo, convinced them to stay.
There was a faint knock from the steel planetarium door, and Percy stood up to answer it.
Standing there, was a girl in a white satin dress and bowed flats, looking freezing in a scarf and a Aztec headband. I see a look of shock in Percy's eyes, but he quickly invites her in and her auburn hair flows behind her as she quickly walks toward the others.
She was undeniably beautiful, and everyone has a collective gasp. Especially Leo.
"Um, Leo?" Her sweet voice echoes in the silence.
Leo has paled, like he's just seen a gorgon.
"C-calypso." He squeaks out.
She gives an acknowledging smile, and sits beside him. He looked like Justin Bieber had just sand One Less Lonely Girl to him.
"I wrote a letter, saying all I wanted was you," he started. "And it came true." His eyes glittered as she shushed him and put her head on his chest.
It was heart warming, really.
All the others had opened their presents, mostly Christmas socks and gift cards. And a few odd gifts exchanged between the guys.
I bent down behind the bush, and pulled out the small carefully wrapped box.
"Percy- " I start.
I see him standing across from he holding a box wrapped in Elsa paper.
"Annabeth." he says calmly.
"I got you this," I hand him the gift. "I don't think you'll like it actually, it's quite stupid.." I stutter as he pulls at the ribbon.
He rips open the paper, and looks at the small box. As he opens it, the letter falls out and starts to flutter to the ground. He catches it, and I watch his expressions as he reads it.
Confused, then surprised, and I see tears well up in his eyes as I recall our times in Tartarus.
And finally, I see love in his eyes. Heart melting. I want to shrink to a puddle on the ground.
I watch him clasp on the necklace, and carefully fold the letter. He then grabs my arm and brings me into a lovely kiss.
We break apart as he speaks.
"Annabeth, I've been meaning to tell you something. I don't want you as a girlfriend anymore,"
I almost crumple under his words as my heart shatters.
"And there are reasons, mostly some you won't understand. I don't like your last name, we can't agree on restaurants to eat, our lives are constantly in danger-" he starts ranting but I interrupt.
"What was that first one?" I ask, my voice trembling like a cold puppy.
"I don't like your last name. You should change it. And your status." he says.
When with my smarts as a daughter of Athena, I don't know what the hades he was trying to say.
"I want your last name Jackson, and I don't want you to be my girlfriend. I need you to be my wife." He grins.
He gets down on one knee, and I'm internally screaming now.
"Yes, yes yes!" I shriek, not caring about the others.
He stands up and bring me into a lingering kiss.
"Mrs. Jackson, I never want to be yours." He smiles, and we share that saying that only we can truly understand.
