Chapter 8

It was the end of school and luz and Amity were walking home together. 

''So you said you were going to explain why you were avoiding me, right?'' Asked Amity.

''Yes!'' Luz confirmed. ''Well... oh God this is going to be a little hard to say, heh. Well, do you remember how Eda said that I become all wolfy when I feel strong emotion?''

''Yes, why?'' Amity responded. 

''Well... it wouldn't be good if I turned into a wolf during school... and well... you give me strong emotions. Amity, I love you.'' Said Luz, looking into her eyes. 

Amity choked in gay panic. ''Oh! Uh, cool!''

''OH TITAN WHY DID I JUST REPLY WITH 'COOL' OH NO.''

''You... feel the same, right? I mean it kinda seems like you do... I, uh, could be wrong though, maybe I just misinterpreted things.''

''No no, I feel the same, you didn't misinterpret things! Oh Titan, I made this awkward, didn't I? Sorry, I sorta short-circuited-''

''It's fine, don't worry! I didn't expect this to be some epic love confession like in the movies.'' Luz replied. ''So... are you sure you like me back? Amity, if you don't, you can say so, you don't have to pretend to just so I won't get hurt.''

''Luz, I love you like that, really. Actually, when I came over a few hours ago, it was because I was going to confess to you. I didn't, though, because I was too nervous, and there was the whole werewolf thing so it wasn't really a good time.'' Amity told her. ''I'm actually surprised you love me, I mean you never seemed to notice and I just assumed that was because you didn't like me and wanted to ignore my feelings for you.''

''I did sorta notice it but I kept doubting it because I found it unbelievable... but then yesterday when we had that conversation about how we're not unlovable I started to believe that maybe I had a chance?'' Said Luz. ''And guess I was right. About having a chance, I mean. I'm really happy about that.''

They just smiled at each other blushing for a bit, and then Luz went into her half-wolf form. 

''Ah! Should've expected that to happen.'' Said Luz, looking at her paws.

''Do you think you'll have to avoid me tomorrow, too? I mean, it's okay if you do.'' Amity asked nervously.

''Hmm...'' Luz thought. ''Actually, I think I won't. I mean, so what if I become all wolfy at school? Nothing bad would happen, I'm sure. I think I just was scared of it because people then might find out I like you. But I don't care about that now.''

''Oh, good-- Oh, wait, I have to go home now! Oh Titan, I'm late, anyways, goodbye Luz!''

''Goodbye!'' Luz waved.

Amity started running home as fast as she could and Luz watched sadly, knowing why she had to go home so quickly- she knew how her parents were. 

''I hope she'll be okay.'' Luz thought. ''Oh, wait, I should probably get back home too.''

''Oh, hey Luz! How was school?'' Asked Eda, when Luz got home- well, to The Owl House, but it was basically her home. 

''It was great! Well, school itself was okay, but what happened after school was great!'' Luz replied.

''Oh, really? Is that why you're in your half-wolf form?''

''Yep!''

''So, what happened?''

''Welllllllllllllll...'' Luz started, smiling like an idiot. ''Me and Amity are a thing now! I mean, I think? We both confessed to each other, so...''

''If you and her ever kiss, do NOT do it in front of me.'' King said, walking into the room. ''Also, why are you all wolf-like?'' 

''Hey, King! I haven't seen you all day. Also, right, you don't know! I'll explain it later, okay?''

''Anyways, good for you, kid.'' Said Eda, patting Luz on the back. ''I can't say I didn't expect it.''

''Was it really that obvious?'' Luz asked. 

''YES.'' Eda, King, and Hooty, who was also there, said in unison,

''So, are you gonna explain why you look like this now?'' King asked, with a slightly concerned tone of voice. ''You didn't... you didn't get cursed, did you?''

''Nope!'' Luz replied. ''I'm a werewolf now! I don't know how I became one, though. Eda, you did say it was 'very possible' I'm one when we were still trying to figure out what was going on. That kinda makes it sound like you know something?''

''Ah, right. Well, I heard that sometimes when non-magical creatures enter Boiling Isles, it transforms them into magical creatures so they'd fit in here more. I didn't believe it though, because nothing ever happened to you, but I guess it just took a while.'' Said Eda. ''I mean, maybe it isn't real and you turned into a werewolf for other reasons, but I'm thinking that could be it.''

''Ohhh. That's interesting.'' Said Luz. She was going to ask what would happen when she goes back to the human realm, but she didn't really want to think about how she'd leave eventually, and she was sure her friends didn't either. 

''Also, unrelated, but have you felt sad, or angry, or jealous or anything recently?'' Eda asked. 

''No. Why do you ask?'' Luz answered, confused. 

''Welllll, I've been reading up on werewolves while you were at school, and it said that, for some werewolves, negative emotions effect them... differently.'' Eda stated. ''They can become hostile. They'll lose all their control and become dangerous. I know that it's only with some werewolves, but I don't want to risk you hurting anyone. If you feel upset in anyway, tell me immediately, okay?''

''Okay!'' Luz replied. She definitely would, she did NOT want to hurt anyone, even if it's not on purpose. ''But what about when I'm at school? Or any place away from you?''

''Then you'll use this long-distance communication spell that I'm about to teach you.'' Eda answered. 

Luz spent the rest of the day mastering the spell. By the time she did, it was late, so she went to bed.

[This isn't a timeskip, just what was going on with Amity when she got home]

As soon as Amity got home, she was greeted by her father. 

''Amity Blight, you are two minutes and twenty-four seconds late. Would you care to explain yourself?''

''My apologizes, I had to explain to Boscha what her homework is.'' Amity lied. 

Her father looked at her skeptically for a few seconds, but decided that she was telling the truth. ''Well, go on, study now, you don't want your grades to get lower, do you?''

Amity nodded then went into her room to study. Once she was done (at this point, she can study relatively quickly from doing it so much) she just sat there thinking about Luz. 

''She likes me back! I can't believe it! My Titan, I'm so happy.''  Amity thought. Then suddenly she was filled with fear. ''What if my parents find out?...''

''It'll be fine! I just have to tell Luz to keep it a secret. Then it'll be okay. Yes, I'll be fine.''

She got out her diary and spent the rest of the day writing in it, since she sure had a lot to write about.
