KARA'S POV

I lay there on my bed, staring at the ceiling thinking,'Ok.'

I sigh, 'Maybe I should just try to talk to her. She never really says anything. I should try to help her open up. Yes?'

'Maybe I should tell her I know who she is. Nobody else seems to have figured it out. Not even Alex. Maybe not. Maybe she doesn't want anyone to know. It must have been hard for her. Maybe that's why she's in this small town rather than back in Metropolis, so she doesn't get noticed?'

Lena would be coming back after her run anytime now. I want us to be friends, but I don't know how to even talk to her when she never really talks back.

I grabbed my phone and Google searched 'how to talk to someone'. It came up with a bunch of ways to talk to guy about video games and cars. I tried again. This time I typed, 'how to talk to a girl'.

I pressed the top site.

"Want to get to know a girl? This is what you should do." I read aloud curiously.

"Step one: make sure she's in a good mood. You wouldn't want to press her buttons on a bad day. Ask her how her day's going and give her a compliment."

'Looks like good advice.'

"Step two: if she accepts your compliment, get a little more personal. Ask her what she's interested in, or what things she has to do. Being interested in her life will show you care."

"Step three: try to help her out and create opportunities for you to spend more time together. This way you can become closer, more trusting and form a stable relationship."

'Seems like a good idea. I'll try this.'

Just then, Lena walked in.

She looked at me, I think she heard me talking. Hopefully she didn't hear what I'd actually said.

"Hi Lena." I sat up and smiled at her.

"Hi Kara." She turned to me, and smiled. She wore a sports bra with a tank top on top, and blue sports leggings that beautifully express the curves of her body. She stood there breathless and sweaty. It was hard not to look at her.

'Stage one, ask her about her day.'

"Um, so. How's your day been?"

"Oh, um. It's been alright. The run was a bit of a stretch. I got lost somewhere, but I made it back. Clearly."

"How far did you go?"

"Quite far. Into the woods a several miles, there and back."

'compliment her.'

"Wow, you must be pretty fit. I mean, you look it." I felt my cheeks go red as I said that. I'm not sure why. I was just giving a compliment to someone I hoped would become my friend.

A blush formed on Lena's face too.

"I-I do? Thanks. T-thats really nice of you to say. You uh, you look really fit too. You're really muscular."

She eyes my arms. I looked down to where she was looking, but I was wearing a baggy hoodie. It was like she was looking right through it.

"You can't see my arms..." I said questioningly.

"No- uh! I mean, I saw them earlier. Not that I was looking! I just- noticed."

"Oh, well, thanks." I smiled, my face blushing even more.

She was stuttering. It didn't happen often. In fact, it hadn't happened since the day she arrived.

'Stage 2, asking her what's up and what she's into'
