Chapter 11

(Y/N)'s Pov

"Police investigation?! Are you mad?!"

"It's just to hand in a statement!" I say. "Nothing bad!"

"Nothing bad?! Do you have any idea of the workload I have right now, and you ran into a problem with the police again?!"

"It was just for questioning! They've no proof I did anything! And what do you mean 'again?'"

"What was this questioning then?! Huh?!"

I stopped and hesitated.

"...So you know my ex, Light?"

"...What did you do, (Y/N)?"

"Nothing! Jeez, some sister you are! You're not even gonna hear me out!"

"Okay! Okay! What happened with Light?"

"He's dead sis..."

My sister stopped, frozen.

"How...? How is Light Yagami, the genius, dead...?"

"Your guess is as good as mine...According to the police, they labelled it a suicide."

"But that's kinda low, even for Light. Don't you think so?"

I nod my head.

"So if they know it's a suicide, why are they making you write a statement?"

"For more evidence" I simply state. "My name was brought up when the Yagami family were being interviewed by the police. And since I haven't been on the greatest of terms with Light, of course they'd feel a little bit unsure about me. I can promise you, that's all it is. Once I hand it in, that'll be it."

"So they think you may be the reason he committed suicide?" My sister asked, with a pissed off tone.

"Well, they're taking precautions..." I say.

"What a joke..." My sister scoffed.

"I suppose it's necessary. They don't know too much about what's happened. We only know that there was absolutely no evidence that anyone else was in the house besides Light. So I guess they're just trying to see if anything links with anything."

"That makes sense" My sister said, in deep thought.

"Believe me, I wouldn't hurt Light like that. I know I hate him, but I'd never kill him."

"I know. I'm just a little confused as to why you didn't tell me sooner."

"It's like you just said, sis. You have way too much on your plate right now. I wouldn't wanna bombard you."

"Well, you gotta tell me these things. This is important, you know."

"I know. I promise to update you on any news."

"Uh huh. Good."

She slumped back into her chair at the kitchen table and rested her head in her hands.

"After tomorrow, they'll be no more trouble. I swear" I said with a small smile, heading upstairs to my room.

I flop down onto my bed and let out a big sigh.
Just as soon after, my phone buzzed.

"A text from Ryuzaki? But, he just left 5 minutes ago..."

I sat up and opened up the text.

"I'm sorry if what I said earlier ended up causing you and your sister to argue. Please forgive me :)"

Weird. It was almost as if he knew that we had a small argument. But I suppose he just made a mistake and realised the consequences of blurting that out.
