It had been about a month since Nicole and Waverly started goin steady. They had been riding to school together and everything. There weren't many times aside from being separate classes that you didn't see them together.  So when lunch came one Thursday and Waverly hadn't heard from or seen Nicole since Monday, understandably she was concerned. This just wasn't like her girlfriend.
"Where's Nicole?" She asked Chrissy, who was sitting at the lunch table with her. Chrissy shrugged. "I don't know. I haven't seen her today. Honestly, I don't think I've seen her much at all this week." Her friend replied.
Waverly sighed. She knew she had only been with the girl for a little while, but she genuinely was starting to worry. "I think I'll just do a half day today and then swing by her house after I leave.  I hope she isn't sick."
Chrissy gave her an understanding nod. "Im sure she's fine Waves. She's a big girl and she's probably got her reasons, but I get why you'd wanna go over there. Just give me a call when you get home."
Waverly agreed and then picked up her tray before disposing everything in the proper bins. "I'll catch you later Chris." She told her friend with a wave and set off for her next class. Today was going to be a long day.

About and hour and half later, Waverly pulled her red Jeep into Nicole's driveway. She decided to park behind the nice black truck instead of to the side, as she saw Nathan's Ford Mustang parked to the right of it. She got out of the Jeep, walked up the sidewalk and rang the bell.
Nathan answered the door and he looked completely exhausted. "Dude!" Waverly said. "You look like shit, man." He gave her a light giggle followed by a cough he had tried to hold back. "Yeah," he said. "I think Nicole gave me whatever she's got. I don't even know how we got sick."  Waverly gave him a sad look. "Okay. Here's the deal," she began. "I'm gonna run into town real quick and I'll be right back. Don't tell Nicole I was here." And she turned around. "I mean it! And don't you go anywhere either young sir!" She yelled and ran back to her car.
She drove all the way to Shorty's and walked right into the kitchen. "Hey Shorty!" She said when she saw the owner of the pub. "Can I get you to do something for me?" She asked with hopeful eyes. He gave her a smile. "Anything for my favorite girl!" He said and asked what she needed.
"Do you remember that band you had play a while back? Wicked?" She asked and he nodded his head. "Of course I do. They brought in the best profits we've had here in years. What about them?"
Waverly frowned. "Well, Nicole and Nathan are really sick and they have been all week. I was wondering if you could maybe... idk... cook them up a big batch of chicken noodle soup?" She asked, he voice hitting a high pitch at the end there.  "They haven't been in school and I just dropped by to check in on them. Nathan looks like he's been hit by a truck and I'm sure Nicole doesn't look much better."
Shorty smiled at the smaller girl in front of him. "Ah. I thought I saw you and that chick hittin it off that night. I take it things have escalated since then?" He said with a wink. Waverly rolled her eyes but a smile took over her face anyways. "You could say that," she said with a laugh. "Will you?" She asked again with pleading eyes. "You always make the best soup when I'm sick!" Shorty pulled out a pot and started throwing things in. "I told you I'd do anything for you kid. Just give me 20 mins." Waverly gave him a quick thanks and went to go sit at a table in the lobby while she waited.

When she got back to the Haught residence, Nathan answered the door once more. "What you got there, Smol Bean?" He asked, eyeing the crockpot she now held in her hands. She walked past him to go inside and sat it on the kitchen counter. "I come bearing gifts of healing." She informed him and took the lid off the pot. Nathan all but started drooling. "Sit." She told him and he did.
She walked over to the cabinet and pulled out 2 bowls. Then she went to the drawer and pulled out a couple spoons. One for Nathan and one for Nicole. She scooped the brother some into his bowl and then put an equal amount into the other for her girlfriend. She sat his down in front of him and he began to eat.
"Thank you Waverly. This is great!" He told her, as he shoved another spoonful in his mouth. "Really. I haven't been able to eat much lately."  Waverly smiled at him. He really did look pretty sick, which reminded her of why she came here in the first place. "You eat up," she told him, opening the fridge and grabbing the hot sauce she knew Nicole would want. "I'm gonna go feed Nicole."  The red headed man gave her an arched eyebrow and laughed. "I bet you will." He said laughing. Waverly just flipped him off and went up the stairs.

She got to Nicole's room and saw the door was shut. She knocked, but got no response. "Baby?" She said, opening the door quietly. She immediately saw Nicole laying in bed. She seemed to be sleeping.
She walked over and put her hand to her head ever so gently. Her girlfriend had a fever, that much was clear. Even if she hadn't felt the heat coming off of her face, she'd be able to tell how pale and sweaty the girl seemed to be.  She tucked some of the hair out of the sleeping girl's face.
Nicole began to stir and when she saw Waverly, she tucked her head all the way under the blanket.   "I don't wanna get you sick." She said, clearly congested. Waverly pulled the blanket back down. "Nicole Haught! I don't care what you want at the moment. Sit up and eat this soup!" She demanded and the redhead shot her a look of confusion. Then she saw what her girlfriend had put on the table next to her bed.
"You brought me soup?" She asked. Waverly nodded. "Of course I did. I've been worried about you. I haven't seen you hardly at all this week and you haven't been at school, so I stopped by a little while ago and talked to Nathan." She said. "He's eating his soup downstairs, and now I wanna make sure you eat yours."
Nicole sat up and took the bowl. She was never one to deny Waverly anything, and she certainly wasn't gonna deny her now. "Did you bring the-" Waverly was already handing her the tabasco sauce. "You know me so well babe." She said with a soft smile, taking the bottle and pouring it in her soup. "Thank you." Waverly kissed the top of her head.  "Eat up baby.  I need you to be well." Nicole nodded and began eating, once again doing anything she could to make the girl she was slowly falling in love with happy.  She couldn't believe she was worthy, but she was glad she had done something right in her life to deserve the angel that is Waverly Earp.
