We arrived at my house and went inside to go "work on homework". We went straight up to my room and put our bags down. As Tsukki sits I ask him if he would like anything to drink before we got started. He shook his head and took off his coat. I told him I was going to get me something to drink really quick and would be back in a second.
After going down stairs I went to go get the dinosaur plush from the coat closet. Then I went to the fridge and got the cake that I made for him. when I had both I went back upstairs to surprise Tsukki. As I grabbed the door handle, I started singing happy birthday and entered the room. Startled by the sudden noise, Tsukki looked to the door with a light blush dusting his cheeks. As I continued singing, he smiled slightly.
I set the cake down on the table in front of Tsukki and place the dino beside him as I finish the song. Tsukki sat stalk still as I sat in front of him. I look him in the eyes waiting for him to say something. After a few minutes of sitting in silence I realized he was not going to say anything.
"happy birthday" I say again as I keep eye contact. He lets out a breath and looks down at the cake.
"Thanks." Tsukishima says with his smile more apparent on his face. He looked back up to me, then at the dino sitting beside him, then back at the cake, debating whether or not to eat it.
"go ahead and eat a piece! I made it just for you!" I told him excitedly while cutting a piece for him. He immediately dug in chowing down happily. I also started eating a small piece. As we ate, we chatted idly about how our days went.
*time skip to after they finished the cake*
"So... Um... have you tried writing to your soulmate yet?" I asked timidly.
"No." Tsukki stated nonchalantly. As he leaned on the giant dino.
"Well why not?" I questioned him.
"I didn't really think about it. Not like I care that much about talking to them."
I froze for a minute with sadness as he said those words. I always wished that I was his soulmate but he never cared about those types of things anyway.
"well why don't you try writing them anyway?"
"Why? What would be the point of that?"
"Maybe they have been waiting for you to turn 16 so they could write to you. Why don't you just write and see if they answer?"
"Fine" Tsukki says with a huff. He simply wrote "hey" on his arm. Nothing else. And we waited.
We waited for about 10 minutes and there was still no reply. We stared solely at his arm waiting for any marking to appear but none did. Joy erupted inside of me as I had slight hope that I could be his soulmate, since their birthday probably hadn't come yet. I soon forgot my happiness as I saw Tsukki's face become dejected. For anyone else he would have seemed the same but I could tell from his eyes that he was sad or disappointed that he received no answer.
"well maybe their birthday hasn't come yet. We can just talk a little more instead." I stated quickly trying to lift his spirits.
"sure."
"Alright then, do you like your present?"
"I guess and the cake was decent." He stated with the smallest blush
