The next morning, Nick woke up and looked around and saw that he was home on the couch. He sat up and held his head. He rubbed his eyes and saw his hand. He saw his wedding ring missing.
"What the hell," Nick said. He slowly got up and made his way upstairs and saw Emily gone. He went to the bedroom and saw Brizee gone.
"What happened last night, where's my wife and child," Nick said.
"They moved out," a voice said behind him. He turned and saw Hayley leaning against the wall.
"What!" Nick said.
"You kicked Brizee to the curb last night, you went out partying with some girls at Howie's club, AJ called her and she came down there and dragged you to Howie's office and you told her that marriage wasn't what you thought and you took your ring off and told her you wanted a divorce, how do I know, I've been assigned as your guardian angel, I have to follow you everywhere you and Emily go, after you walked out on your wife, she got Emily and came over here and packed up her stuff and Emily's and left," Hayley said.
"Where are they?" Nick asked.
"Brizee's old house in Orlando, you really destroyed your marriage to Brizee last night, right when I told her that you two belonged together, I guess I was wrong about that," Hayley said.
"Oh god!" Nick said covering his face.
"Why did you party, Nick, you had it all, a wife, a child, you were a family, you wanted to be a family, it was your idea to marry Brizee and have her adopt Emily, did you set it up that way so Emily will have a mother and you disappear from her life," Hayley said.
"No!" Nick cried.
"You better fix things, Nick, I didn't risk my life to give you Emily so you can be the absent father, I gave you the child so you can have a family that you wanted in the first place!" Hayley said. Nick went and showered and changed and drank some coffee. Brian and AJ came in.
"Nick," Brian said.
"What," Nick said.
"You okay?" Brian asked.
"No, my wife and child are gone, I don't know what is going on," Nick said.
"You mean you have no memory of last night," Brian said.
"Not really, woke up with a killer headache so I guess I was drunk off my ass last night," Nick said. AJ and Brian looked at each other.
"You told Brizee it was over and you wanted a divorce," Brian said.
"Oh god," Nick said.
"She took Emily home to Orlando," Brian said.
"I have to fix this," Nick said.
"Nick, do you want your marriage to be over?" AJ asked.
"No, I don't, I am never drinking again," Nick said.
"We'll take you to her house," Brian said. Nick nodded. They got into Brian's car and headed for Orlando. They pulled up in front of a house. Nick got out and ran to the door and rang the doorbell. The door opened and Brizee stood there and saw him.
"What are you doing here?" Brizee asked.
"We need to talk," Nick said softly. Brian and AJ came up behind him.
"Guys," Brizee said.
"Briz, you two need to talk," Brian said.
"Why should I talk to him," Brizee said.
"Briz, he doesn't remember anything from last night, he was drunk out of his mind, he had a killer headache this morning, talk to him, okay, he doesn't want a divorce," Brian said. Brizee sighed and stepped aside and they went in. Brian and AJ got Emily and took her out back. Nick sat on the couch and stared at his hands. Brizee sat in a chair.
"Talk," Brizee said.
"I went to be alone, and thought about things and what Hayley said and then I went to Tabu and started drinking and then everything went blurry and the next thing I know, I'm at home on the couch, and I get upstairs and looked for you and Emily and Hayley said you two moved out and told me what happened last night, I showered and changed and was drinking coffee when Brian and AJ came in and told me what happened,I couldn't tell them that I knew, I couldn't tell them that Hayley was a ghost and told me everything, she said she was mine and Emily's guardian angel, and she's supposed to follow us everywhere we go, Briz, I am sorry that I hurt you and if I didn't drink, I wouldn't have screwed up, I never would want our marriage to be over, I love you and Emily, I love being a family, I'm not just saying that, it's the truth, I couldn't lie to you, I know you haven't lied to me," Nick said.
"Nick, how can I be sure that you won't go get drunk off your ass again and tell me it's over," Brizee said.
"I told Brian and AJ that I'm never drinking again, I meant it," Nick said. He got up and knelt down in front of her.
"Briz, I love you, I never meant to hurt you, I will make it up to you, I can't be without you," Nick said. Brizee looked up and saw Hayley. Hayley smiled and nodded and mouthed "Forgive him" to her. Brizee looked at him and hugged him.
"You better make it up to me," Brizee said.
That night, Brizee and Emily were back at Nick's. Emily was asleep. Nick and Brizee were in their bed, making love. Afterwards, Nick held Brizee close and kissed her forehead.
"I never want to lose you again," Nick said.
"You won't, but I can't go through another broken heart again, I went through all that when I was with Adam, I can't handle another broken heart," Brizee said.
"If I ever screw up again, not intentionally, but if I do, you will get custody of Emily, if I screw up, I don't deserve to be her father," Nick said.
"You better not screw up, Nickolas, remember, I'm watching and making sure you don't," Hayley said from the corner.
"You watched us?" Nick asked.
"No, while you two were making love, I was watching Emily sleep, I just came in here to hear you say that," Hayley said.
"I am not going to screw up again," Nick said. Hayley nodded and went through the wall. Nick laid on top of Brizee and made love to her again. Afterwards, they went to sleep holding each other.
