Chapter Six

He needed to talk to Tekit and Slick.

Chris knocked on the sewer grate before opening it and climbing in, a bad stench immediately filling his nose.

Nasty.

How does Slick live down here?

Chris climbed down the dirty rungs of the ladder, feet touching the platform below causing a loud sound echo through the sewer.

"Ch-Chris? W-what b-brings you h-here?"

Chris turned his head to see Slick sitting in a sleeping bag, leaning against the wall of the sewers. A book was open in his hands, the pages being illuminated by a lantern that was sitting next to him.

Slick told Chris that he could visit anytime he wanted since he became lonely quite frequently. The only other person that he interacts with was Tekit.

Chris walked over to where Slick was sitting and sat about a meter away from him. Chris scratched the back of his neck. "Well, I wanted to talk to you and uh... Hyunjin about something, but I guess I can tell you first."

Slick raised his eyebrow on the working side of his face, closing his book and setting it aside. "O-oh? W-what is i-it?"

Chris' eyes wandered around the sewer, thinking about how to word his thoughts. "Well, uh... I kind of have a dilemma."

Slick continued to look at Chris expectantly, which Chris took as a sign to continue. "So... you know how I hate Strike and Mega with a burning passion?"

Slick involuntarily shivered, nodding. "Y-yeah. We a-all d-do, don't w-we?"

Chris nodded back. "Well, yes, but... I, well... in short, I found evidence that my boyfriend is one of them."

Slick's eyes widened. "R-really?"

Chris looked away. "Yeah. So, to give some background information, you know that I got my powers from a meteor. On that night, I took a piece of the meteor because my boyfriend loves rocks and has a rock collection and... I just got around to giving it to him so I was going to put it onto his rock collection shelf for him to find, but... I found a rock already on there that looked identical to it. And I know that he is either Strike or Mega and not some new hero or something because no new heroes or... villains I guess have shown up recently... and I also overheard a conversation between him and someone else and what they've all said in the conversation literally all lined up and sounded like they are the heroes so much, they couldn't not be them. And it's scary because it explains everything. Everything suspicious that happened with him, every time he leaves at random times, why he's been super sad lately, just... it explains everything."

Slick looked shocked. "G-geez, that honestly s-sounds s-so s-screwed up. W-what are y-you g-going to d-do about it?"

Chris thought for a moment before shrugging. "I... I really don't know. I was thinking that I wanted to confront them first and find out if it's really true without them knowing it's me, but... I'd probably need you and Hyunjin's help to draw them out."

Slick hummed in thought. "Y-you mean y-you w-want to r-reveal th-their identities i-in p-public?"

"Uh, sure. I... guess that's what I... want. I really don't know, but I need answers."

Slick involuntarily shivered. "I-I'm d-down to d-do s-something l-like that. W-we could m-meet with H-Hyunjin sometime s-soon t-to f-figure something out."

Chris sighed. "Yeah, sounds good, uh... it just is so... so confusing on how I feel, you know? My own boyfriend, probably the person I'm closest to, could be the person I hate the most, but I don't know. He has to be Mega. Strike was the one who wronged me, and I don't want to believe it at all if he was. I truly believe that he is Mega. There is no way he would do something like that to me, would he?"

"Th-that sounds r-really c-confusing a-and it must s-suck."

"Yeah, I just... I just need to know who he is. I need answers."

Chris sighed, the two sitting in thoughtful silence. Slick spoke up after a bit. "W-we'll help y-you f-figure it out."

Chris nodded. "Thanks, Jeongin."

Slick half-smiled. "O-of course. N-now th-that we're b-both in the s-same b-boat of v-villainy, we'll h-help each other."

Chris smiled back.

Even through all of this confusion, he could always rely on Tekit and Slick.
