My phone buzzed on the table, breaking my concentration on reading the compiled intel about the recent attacks. President Reagan believed that this is a set up in person but he can't say anything yet to the public due to the lack of convincing evidence. "Hello?" I asked.
"Hey Isa, care to play Call Of Duty?" my cousin Jun-myeon said through the phone call.
"Seriously now?" I asked.
"Yeah, we need to talk about him."
"Even Katrina's gone quiet?" I asked.
"Yeah, we can talk about it online." he said. "All of us are game, except Camilla and Adrian. They don't play that."
"I think I have time." I say. Putting the call on hold I exited the study and reentered a room which I have stacked up gaming consoles for me to kill time after leaving office. Booting up the game I waited until everybody came online.
"Well hello there Madam Vice President." my cousin Christian was the first to go online. "How does it feel after giving birth?"
"Get a wife and ask her Chris." I replied. "You trying to annoy me?" His laughter was heard through my headset.
"Eh, no. We got to talk about Uncle Vladimir right?" he asked. "Oh, look who's joined the chat?" he said as Jun-myeon, Baek and Chan's online usernames popped up. "Hey guys!"
"Hey yourself Chris. Watch me." Jun-myeon said. We're able to see each other on screen as we play and we waved at each other.
"This isn't live right?" I asked.
"It's private, in that way we got to chat about family. How's Bruce?"
"Same old, same old. One of his 'friends' called him away." I replied. "But he's with me."
"With you? As in he's working from wherever you are now."
"You got it Chris. I'm in California."
"Why are you even in Cal?" Chan asked.
"Can we start the game already?" asked an annoyed Chris. "PVP?!"
"Uh..." I said. "Alright boys, let's go and play." the game begins, with us parachuting from above the skies, landing on a designated spot.
"What's with Uncle Vladimir's shenanigans anyway?" Jun-myeon asked when his avatar landed before me.
"I'm not even sure it's him." I said, my avatar detaching the parachute. "It's more like someone trying to frame him of all places."
"Got a Tango!" Chan shouted, his avatar running forward. "Keep up commander."
"You wanna bet?!" Chris shouted. "Did you got blown up? What happened to the arm?"
"Sort of, somebody got a bomb in the house and I got these because it's hidden in a vase."
"And you have to go here?" Chris asked. "Man, the threat is real bad up there."
"You don't think." I say, firing at an enemy player. "Got one!"
"Come on, that was mine!"
"Try harder Baek." I laughed. "Still training to be a Navy SEAL, so yeah."
"Serious question, why would Uncle Vladimir hurt his niece?"
"You think he has enemies?" Chan hit another enemy with the butt of his rifle. "I got another!"
"Why are you guys stealing my kills?!" Chris asked.
"Uh... trying to win this match?" I shrugged.
"I don't really believe that he's behind all this." Baek interjected. "Maybe as you said, someone is trying to frame him and get the firefight started."
"Enemy UAV!" Jun-myeon shouted.
"I'm dead. Sigh." said a disappointed Christian. "Have fun." the four of us laughed out loud.
"Seriously, you did time with the RAF and you didn't notice an enemy UAV?" Chan laughed. "My father would just scold me."
"EH! Behind you!" Baek shouted. "Grenade!" we ducked as a grenade landed, detonating on the spot. "That was far too close."
"How many guys are we after?" I asked. "I'm garnering kill streaks."
"Dude, you can respawn." Jun-myeon told Christian. "Our enemies also can."
"Ok, our tournament also has a time limit." I shrugged. "But the murder and the poisoning are all on a hit."
"Yeah, the signs are all there. Somebody's really serious in trying to frame Uncle Vladimir." Chris said.
"Woo! Got another." Chan shouted. "Eat that grenade!" the timer stopped when the grenade exploded, declaring our team the winner.
"I'm serious about it. Must be a high ranking guy that hates America a lot, enough to order hits on high ranking people like the two of them, to stoke war between Russia and the United States." Chris added.
"One more round and I'm gone. I still have work." I say.
"We'll keep that in mind." Jun-myeon said. "Hope that our conversations help."
