Ri Jeong Hyeok is a temp at Dooly Supermarket and Yoon Seri is completely enraged by the fact that there aren't any strawberries. He tries to tewosn with her, leading to much sweeter outcomes.
She can feel the migraine making its way up towards the core center of her brain. It didn't help that she was awake till almost three in the morning working on a late report she had to turn in to her boss, who happened to be a sore pain the pass, for starters— making her work overtime without checking in with her. It didn't help that her golden retriever was barking mad like some barbaric animal; it just had to be this one day.It didn't help that people were staring at her. She couldn't identify if it were because of the barking dog on the leash or just the grumpy face she adorned while walking to the nearest supermarket.
It also didn't help that she was craving strawberries.
Hmm, yummy strawberries dipped in fresh cream.
She nearly drooled, letting herself in through the automatic double doors of the place. Almost immediately, her eyes scan the premises to pinpoint the number of people in here— a habit she had picked up thanks to her uneasy mind. She liked to tell herself that if the number of people in the place would be less than twenty, she'd step in, if not, well... other supermarkets were awaiting her wons.
"Shut up, you stupid dog." Seri almost shouts at the dog. Her head was aching, and all she wanted was some quiet and, well, strawberries, was that too much to ask on a Monday morning? Apparently, it was, considering the universe was getting back at her for all the mistakes she had made in the 30 years of existence.
Marco hushed down almost immediately, like one scolding from his master was all that was needed this whole time for him to stop barking. Seri tried to ignore the guilt in her heart for being so harsh, also the stares from the people around her. There were almost ten people in Dooly Supermarket, the nearest one to her house. It made her wonder why hadn't she come here before. Briefly pondering over the thought, she shrugged it off as she made her way towards the back of the aisles. Children gave her frightened looks; mothers turned their kids away from the woman with a scoff on her face. It was like no one was ready to come within a two-meter radius of her.
Well, everyone except a man almost the same age as her, judging by the soft lines doting the corners of his eyes and a smile too bright for a Monday morning.
She hated him already.
"Hello ma'am, how are you today?" As Seri busied herself in the fruit aisle, she allowed herself to count to ten in her head. The enthusiasm of this man was making her sick to her stomach. She tightened her thick black coat over her torso, inwardly groaning yet again when she looked at him and saw him standing in only a blue button-down, and dark washed jeans, a yellow apron circling his waist below. A simple, pale yellow name tag was neatly pinned to the top of his left breast pocket.
Jeong Hyeok, it read.
Jeong Hyeok? What an odd name.
With enthusiasm like that, no wonder she hates him.
Sensing her discomfort at speaking, he settled on another approach. "How can I help you?" that was even she really looked at him. Raising her head to meet his almost six feet something build, Seri caught on his devilishly handsome face, a face too beautiful to be working in a grocery store for sure. His smile made it easy to identify the dimples set within his skin. His dark hair looked like it needed a trim. Seri was certain if she reached over, she could easily thread his thick locks into a small ponytail just at the back of the head. With eyes as rich as chocolate, she found herself getting even more annoyed with him.
