When their 14 year old returns from school one day with a sad face, both parents Hyun Bin and Son Yejin are determined to find the cause of his sorrow. Family fluff coming your way!
"Omo, you're home early." Yejin chanted from the living room just when she heard the door swing open. Quickly discarding the hair brush she had been using earlier, she rushes to the door only to find no one.
That's odd, she thought to herself, she definitely heard the door open.
Her feet automatically take her to the flight of stairs, taking one step at a time in her four inch heels. Yejin softly knocks on the door she is standing before. "Taehyung?" she calls out her teen boy's name in a whisper. "Are you home?" when nothing is returned, she takes the liberty to open the door herself. Greeted with utter silence and darkness, she flicks the light switch on only to find her boy sitting by himself on the bed, his hands knotted in his lap and head bowed. Upon further inspection and closure, she catches his eyes fluttering open and close.Concern blooms in the actress' heart at once.
Being an actor herself, she'd know the exact thing to say and pretend to feel when dealing with a child. Her career had expanded for more than two decades now and she had been with several children; always knowing the words to say to them as their on-screen mother and knowing how to comfort them.
But this was her own child. There were no scripts, no second takes. It was as real as it got.
"Taehyung, are you okay?" her voice is laced with worry as she places a hand on her son's forehead to check for a fever."What happened? Is everything alri-" he gives her a single nod.
It is not like he is being disrespectful by not answering her, no, it is because he has always been a rather private and shy person like his father.
Yejin had wanted her child to inherit some of her juvenile behavior but her only baby was the exact copy of her husband- his jet black hair reminded her of Bin, everything from his stark brown eyes to his button nose, the dimples he had, the bridge of his straight nose to the way he talked in small words around strangers and was not afraid to show forms of affection to the people he loved.
Seeing her 14-year-old growing up so fast was only as amusing as she had thought it to be.
“Taehyung, if there is something bothering you, let omma know, okay?” As much as she wanted to envelope her boy in her arms, Yejin knew better. Her little man was going through the teenage rebellious phase— the time when caring from parents seemed like a complete no to fit into a societal norm. “I will be right here.” She leans forward to kiss his forehead, brushing back the thick black locks, much similar to his father’s.
Yejin makes sure to give him a small smile before she is out the door. A million things race through her mind as her back presses against the door— should she go inside and force him to tell her the reason for his eerie quietness today? Did she wait for him to come outside on his own?
She really wished that over two decades in the entertainment industry would've taught her a thing or two about parenting but everyday was a new adventure with Taehyung, she didn't know what to expect. No script could prepare her for what awaited every day with her little baby boy.
The ringing of the doorbell distracts her from her thought process.
It can only be one person.
Even when she was in her mid forties, the thought of seeing her husband/ former long term but secret boyfriend, still sent her heart into a frenzy she could not quite describe to this day. Even after several decades of being together, marriage, a child and everything in between, Son Yejin still looked at her husband with the same star-crossed expression she had since the first time she saw him.
He greets her with a sloppy kiss to the mouth first rather than exchanging pleasantries— it is her favorite way.
