“Hello Bobbie, how are you feeling?” My regular nurse, Angela, popped her head through the open door, I turned my head towards her.

“Really uncomfortable,” I replied with a short smile, it hurt to smile, but I couldn’t help it. I always smile. She returned it with a small sympathetic one, I knew I must look a state.

With my short shoulder length hair pulled back off my face, I knew that my cheek bones everyday were becoming more and more dominant. My skin was getting paler and my face thinner, the last time I looked, my sea blue eyes had lost their sparkle and had been replaced with a dull lifeless grey. Despite this, I try to keep my spirits up.

Angela, came over to me, I observed her skinny figure, god she was lucky. I pulled my aching body up as she rearranged the cushions behind my head and helped me further into a sitting a position.

“Can I get you anything?” She asked with sympathy.

Nodding I replied, “Could you pass my book please?” I pointed to the thick long lasting book ‘The Splendor Falls’ that was on the tiny table beside me just out of arm’s length, smiling, she passed it to me, then without me even having to ask, she poured me a glass of water and placed it right beside me so that I could reach it with ease, I thanked her and she wandered to the door,

“Oh,” Angela turned back, “There's a group coming to visit the patients this afternoon and I was wondering whether you would like to meet them...”

Shaking my head, Angela looked saddened, “Get them to see people who deserve it,” I breathed, “Oh and could you see if Janie’s alright on floor five and ask them to visit her? I know she’ll need cheering up,” Angela nodded but her smile was false.

“You know,” Angela rested her back on the open door letting the smell of the disinfectant blow through, “You deserve more than you think, this isn’t your fault, you deserve happiness Bobbie,” She told me, I smiled at her but didn’t believe a word she’d just said. With that, Angela left me to read my book, alone.

I must’ve drifted off because after a while I woke up with my book over my chest and fuzziness blurring my vision. Yawning, I heard a faint tap at the door, hesitating, I dismissed it. My eyelids felt heavy, there was a louder knock, this time, I responded,

“Come in,” I murmured realising how croaky my voice was, the door then opened and in front of me appeared five guys that I didn't recognised, all very different, all very handsome, “Can I help you?” I asked slightly confused, perhaps they'd taken a wrong turn...

“Um can we come in?” The small blonde one asked.

“Yeah, I guess…” I told them smiling, “Come on in,” I waved my arm and they smiled back, closing the door behind them, “Take a seat,” I said, one of the one with sandy hair took the only chair that was always vacant, the others hovered, “You can sit here,” I patted the side of my bed where there was a lot of room, “Just don’t sit on me.” I smiled.

The blonde one, the curly haired one and the one with dark hair said on my left side, and the other one with sandy hair sat on the end where there was only enough room for one.

   “Um…?”

“Oh sorry, I’m Niall.” The blond one introduced himself, I noticed his faint Irish accent.

“I’m Harry.” Said the one with very curly hair and bright green eyes,

   “I’m Liam.”

   “Louis.”

   “Zayn.”

Once they’d all introduced themselves, all their names seemed to sink in, “I’m Bobbie,” I said.
