TW: death threats, swearing, arguing,

Patton and Dolion looked up quickly, hearing a carriage door slamming and yelling from outside he bakery. They couldn't hear much of the argument he was clearly having, but as he got closer to the door his heard the last thing.

"Stop being a bitch Roman! I'll be back in a second, if you'd just be patient and stay in the carriage it would make my life so much easier!" The door practically slammed shut behind him, and Patton and Dolion watched in shock as he slammed his head against the wood of the door frame with a groan.

"Are you okay?" Patton asked, still in shock. He noticed Dolion had gone pale, but he didn't understand why.

"Oh I'm fine," Virgil said with a huff. "I've dealt with him for six years, and trust me this isn't the worst thing that's happened. If anything, you should be more worried for him and that I may just kill him."

"Isn't he the king though?" Patton asked. "That's treason.... you'd be killed."

"Oh no I wouldn't," Virgil said with a smirk. "No one could touch me without dying themselves, so I could easily get away with it."

"What was he so upset about?"

"He's just having a bad day," Virgil said with an eye roll. "Really this is better than some days. There are days where he throws things." Virgil glanced at Dolion, who was trying to walk quietly to the back room. "I wouldn't try leaving, Janus."

"Janus?" Patton looked at Dolion, clearly confused. "His name is Dolion, not Janus." Virgil burst out into laughter.

"You- you think his name is Dolion?" Virgil asked. "You've been lied to, but no surprise there. That's Janus Dolos, the number one person on Paranoia's death list."

"What?" Patton's smile fell. "That doesn't make any sense."

"Hate to break it to you, but your boyfriend over there is doomed," Virgil said with a giggle. "There's no way he's going to live."

"Patton isn't my boyfriend!" Janus snapped, finally looking up at Virgil. He was shaking in fear, which made Virgil smirk.

"Awe look at you," Virgil cooed. "Protecting the person you care for. Too bad love makes humans weak."

"Who even are you?" Patton asked. "And what do you want?"

"Well I came in here to buy food, but this is much better." Virgil couldn't stop laughing, and the sound of it sent a chill down Patton's spine. "I'm the one everyone seems to fear so much."

"You're Paranoia?" Patton's jaw dropped.

"The one and only." Virgil glanced between Janus and Patton. "I would kill you now, Janus, but it seems that leaving you would be more fun. That way I can see your heart break when you finally want to be alive."

"We'll find a way to stop you," Janus muttered.

"No you won't." Virgil expression hardened. "I've had so many attempts on my life that at this point I've grown bored."

"Can you just get your food and go?" Patton asked quietly.

"Fine," Virgil said. "Roman's gonna bitch if I take any more time anyway. I'll have a raspberry pastry and an apple scone."

Patton quickly got the food and packaged it, setting it on the counter. He was surprised to see that Virgil had actually set money on the counter.

"What? I may kill people but I still pay for food," Virgil snapped. "I'm not that bad. God, I should just kill everyone. Life would be so much easier."

Virgil sent Janus one last smirk as he walked out of the bakery. He almost immediately started arguing again with Roman. Patton turned to Janus.

"Why didn't you tell me who you are?" Patton asked softly.

"I didn't want to have to leave," Janus whispered. "I thought you'd turn me away like everyone else. You were the only one who was ever kind."

"Janus, I'm not going to make you leave." Janus looked at Patton with wide eyes, as if he'd been expecting to be kicked out. "I don't care what made Paranoia so angry with you, and I'm not going to turn you away for it."

"Thank you," Janus mumbled, giving Patton a grateful smile. "You're the only person who's never cared about my past."

"Well if we judged people for their pasts we'd never be anywhere in the future," Patton stated. "We can't blame people for choices if we don't know why they were made."
