"Hey Virgil," Roman said quietly. Remus marveled at the fact that he was perfectly calm, despite the dagger at his throat and the clearly psychotic Virgil who was behind him.
"You didn't give me much of a chase," Virgil cooed. "You let me catch you."
"Well you would've caught me anyway," Roman stated. "There was no point."
"I can't believe you're just giving up, Roro." Virgil smirked and pressed a kiss to Roman's neck, feeling him tense up under his touch. "Such a shame, really. You let me catch you."
"I hate to interrupt you, but what on earth is going on?" Logan asked, looking between Roman and Virgil.
"It's simple; I'm getting rid of my weakness," Virgil said with a laugh. "I'll tell you a little story."
"Mama always said not to be weak. Mama always yelled. Mama said caring made you weak." Virgil laughed. "Mama made me do it. She made me kill my sisters. Mama made me."
"Mama said I was weak. Mama said I couldn't do it. So I proved Mama wrong. Mama said if I cared I'd be weak, so Mama made me kill my weaknesses. Mama made me kill everyone I cared for."
"I killed my friends, everyone. It didn't matter. If I cared, it was a weakness. Mama always hated weakness." Virgil started laughing again. "But Mama didn't realize that I cared about her. Mama always told me to get rid of anything I cared about, so I killed Mama. Mama, Mama, no more Mama."
Logan could see Virgil's sanity slowly slipping further and further away. He didn't know what to do. Roman was being held at dagger point, but he seemed perfectly content to let himself die.
He was more worried about Remus, who was shaking. Unlike Roman, he wasn't prepared for him to die.
"So, Roro," Virgil purred, turning Roman around to face him and pushing him into a wall. He cupped Roman's jaw in his hand, smirking at him. "Are you ready to die now?"
"Do me one favor," Roman said. "Kiss me?" Virgil collected their lips, kissing Roman hard. Roman melted into him, smiling into the kiss. At least his last moment would be spent doing something he loved.
He didn't even feel it as Virgil quickly plunged the knife into his heart. All he felt as he died was the feeling of Virgil's lips on his own.
Virgil gently laid Roman's body on the floor, tears slipping out of his eyes. He pulled the dagger from Roman's chest, staring at it numbly.
Remus and Logan, who had been sneaking towards the door, we're surprised to find a dagger fly and land in front of them. Virgil wasn't even looking at them, but Logan knew that there was nothing sane left. Virgil had officially and completely snapped.
"I guess I'll be the first to congratulate you," Virgil said with a giggle. He turned to face Logan and Remus, tears running down his face, yet he was laughing. "You're officially king of Galatia. I suppose I'll also be the first to tell you I'm renouncing my job as the throne's assassin. It seems that I just killed the only person I ever loved."
Logan and Remus were gaping at Virgil, who just kept laughing. His hand was still clutching Roman's, and there were tears running down his face, and yet he was laughing.
"Mama, mama, no more mama." Virgil looked at Logan and Remus. "You might want to run. I don't have to kill you, but I want to."
That was all the encouragement Logan and Remus needed to run out of the house, heading back to the bakery.
"So predictable," Virgil said with a laugh. He looked down at Roman's body, as kissed his cheek one last time. "I'll see you soon, Ro."

"Patton why the hell did you give Virgil their location?!" Janus yelled. "You just sold them out, and for what? Another few minutes of my life! Patton I'm dying either way. This isn't going to extend it by long."
"I just wanted you to live," Patton defended. "I'll admit it; that was selfish. But I wanted you to live. You've spent so long preparing to die that you haven't let yourself want to live!"
"You don't think I want to live?" Janus asked. "I spent every minute here wishing that my life had been different so I could live for you. I don't care to live for me, but for you I would do anything!"
"Then let me try and help you!"
"It won't end well!"
"I don't care! Let me try!"
"Please, Patton," Janus whispered. "Just give up on me. This is going to tear us both apart."
"I'm not giving up on you, Janus," Patton said. "I can't give up on you."
Janus didn't know what else to say, but he didn't have to, because right at that moment Remus and Logan ran through the door of the shop.
