I have so much fun creating plot for this-
TW: Death, blood, fear, swearing, upset Roman,

Roman was on edge, more so than ever. Virgil was gone.
When he'd woken up two days before to find Virgil no where nearby he got a little nervous, but he thought he'd see him around. However, Virgil never showed up again.
Roman was about to freak out. He knew Virgil could take care of himself easily, but he couldn't get it out of his head that Virgil wasn't going to come back. He didn't even care that he was more vulnerable with Virgil gone. He just wanted him back.
"So you're saying you haven't seen any signs of him?" Roman snapped at the general of the guards.
"No, your majesty." The General was shifting nervously under Roman's glare, knowing that one wrong word could get him killed.
"You're all useless," Roman growled. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm down his rising nerves. "You can't even track down one person."
"Well, maybe he doesn't want to be found," the general suggested, and then wished he'd never spoken.
"And why, general, would you think that?" Roman asked. The general knew he had made a mistake, and the sharp edge to Roman's voice proved it.
"Well, he is an assassin after all... maybe he's after someone and doesn't want to be found?" The general's voice didn't sound confident in the slightest, and it was more like he was asking than suggesting.
"I don't think that's what you originally wanted to say, was it?" Roman's face was cold. The general slowly shook his head, knowing that at this point he was doomed either way. "That's what I thought. Kill him."
Roman watched, his face motionless as another guard drove his word through the general's heart. He really could've cared less for the general, especially at that moment.
"You, what's your name?" Roman snapped, gesturing towards one of the guards.
"Valkyrie," she answered.
"You're the new general, don't disappoint me."
"Yes, your majesty." Valkyrie gave him a bow before going back to her position.
"If someone doesn't find Paranoia I will kill all of you!" Roman snapped. "I don't care who he is, I want him found."
The guards didn't object, but they were terrified. There was no guarantee Roman wouldn't kill them all anyway, especially since Virgil was impossible to find.
Roman knee that it was likely Virgil didn't want to be found, but that didn't make him feel any better. He wanted to break something just so he could distract himself from the panic that was fighting to control him.
So he just stopped caring about how cruel he was being. He just wanted a distraction. He knew Virgil wouldn't come back until he wanted to, and so he had to stop himself from killing everyone who came into his line of sight.

Virgil slipped back in through Roman's window, exactly as he had left. He was covered in blood, but he didn't really care. He felt better, and that was the important thing.
"You left." Virgil turned to see Roman watching him from his bed. "You didn't leave a note, you didn't tell me, you didn't do anything. You just left me."
"I didn't realize I had to tell you every time I left," Virgil stated. "What's the big deal? I was hunting down more people."
"You. Left. Me." Virgil could see how on edge Roman was. Roman's whole body was tense, and there were clear bags under his eyes.
"I already said I'm not yours, Roman." Virgil watched in confusion as Roman seemed to crash. "I don't understand what you're so upset about."
"I've barely slept for days, and I've had several people killed just because I keep snapping, so don't try and say this isn't bad," Roman snapped. "I was worried with no reason because you left me! You didn't give any indication you'd be gone, you just left. One day would've been fine, but it's been three fucking days!"
"Why do you even care?" Virgil was confused, but he could see Roman was on the edge of snapping.
"I don't know!" Roman yelled. "I don't know why I care so much, but I haven't been able to think clearly while you were gone, and there was no part of me that was at peace. I wanted to kill everyone if they couldn't find you."
"You- you sent people to look for me?" Virgil asked quietly.
"Yes... I knew it would do no good but I did it anyway," Roman said tiredly.
Virgil sighed, walking over and sitting next to Roman. Roman immediately latched onto him, not even caring that he was covered in blood. He pulled Virgil down, cuddling into him.
"Just... just sleep, Roman," Virgil said with a sigh. "You're alright now. I'm here."
Virgil ran his fingers trough Roman's hair, watching as he slowly relaxed into him and fell asleep. He knew there was no way he could move without Roman freaking out, so he just stayed, telling himself this would be the last time, but knowing it probably wouldn't be.
