Virgil could feel the twitching all throughout his body. He tried to ignore it, but it was so hard. Everything in his body screamed at him, trying to get him to obey every word that it screamed.
He couldn't stand the voices anymore. Ever since the night he had slept with Roman, the voices were yelling at him. He had hoped that not giving in to Roman's pursuits would help, but he just ended up back in his arms anyway.
Virgil had told Roman he'd be back in a few minutes, but he was just hiding in Roman's bedroom, hoping he didn't come check on him. He was about ready to slit his own throat and get it over with.
It was all his fault. Everything that had happened was his fault. If he hadn't slept with Roman, Thomas wouldn't be dead and Virgil wouldn't be fighting against every instinct his body had.
Virgil had let Roman kill Thomas, and everything that came of that was his fault. He hadn't thought of what would happen if he grew to care for Roman after having sex with him. He never thought he would.
When Virgil had said he wasn't sure if he could protect Roman, yes he had meant from the kingdom if they found out what had really happened to Thomas. However, he also meant from himself.
Every single cell in his body wanted to do what he had always done when he grew to care for something. His heart was the only thing that didn't want to.
"Virgil? Are you alright?" Virgil's head snapped up from where he was curled up on the floor, eyes locking onto Roman. Just the sight of him sent another wave of pain coursing through his body from trying to fight the urges.
When Roman tried to come closer to Virgil he threw a dagger at him, missing by less than an inch. Roman froze in place, staring at Virgil with wide eyes.
"Don't... don't come near me," Virgil breathed out, trying to control his head. Roman took a step closer, only to have Virgil growl at him. "Don't you dare try to come closer to me."
"What's going on?" Roman asked.
"Roman, I need you to listen to me and follow what I say, alright?" Virgil said, wincing as more pain hit him. Roman nodded. "Run. Don't let me catch you. Please, don't let me catch you."
"But-" Virgil cut Roman off.
"This can't be reversed now, Roman. Please, just do me a favor and don't let me catch you. If I'm within knife throwing distance that's too close. Don't try and help me or getting me to listen to you. Just run."
"I'm confused," Roman said. "I don't understand what's going on."
"I know," Virgil whispered. "I know you don't understand, but you have to listen." Virgil winced. "Don't let me catch you. Don't let me near you. Don't listen to anything I say. Do not believe me."
Roman was about to say something else, but Virgil shuddered one last time and collapsed. He ran forward, going to check Virgil's pulse only to have him catch his wrist. Virgil smirked up at him, and Roman could tell that he wasn't completely same anymore.
"You're going to just make this easy for me?" Virgil purred. "I told you to run, Roro. You should've ran. Lucky for you, I prefer a chase. You still have time."
Virgil let go of Roman's wrist, and Roman backed away from him quickly. The only time he'd ever seen Virgil like this was when he was in what Roman had always called 'hunting mode,' much to Virgil's constant annoyance. Once Virgil was locked on a target, he wouldn't stop for anything.
Roman ran from the room, knowing without having to look that Virgil was following him. He didn't know where to go, but when he turned to go down one hallway Virgil was in front of him.
"Boo," Virgil said with a small laugh. "You have to try harder to get away. You know that I know every single part of this castle. I'll always get somewhere before you."
Roman didn't know where to go. The castle wasn't going to be safe, and he didn't know many places outside of the castle. The only place he could think of was the bakery, but he had no reason to believe the people there would help him.
Still, it was his only option. So Roman ran. He ran until he was inside he bakery, breathing heavily as Remus, Patton, Janus, and Logan all stared at him in shock.
"Help me."
