Part 7

Lady Benzedrine:

Camping has never been a favorite of mine, but Star really wanted me to join her and Mr. Sandman. I agreed to tagged along. I'm slowly regretting it. Although, Miss Sandman normally would complain about me crashing her date. This was the first time she was excited to have me with her. There was a nice spot in the Hollywood Hills' forest for camping. Far away from the town. It was easier to see the constellations without the light pollution. After some research, I found out Hailey's comet was going to appear tonight. This trip didn't seem so bad. Looking up at the sky, a few stars were shining as the sun started to set. Miss Sandman took the tent bag from me.

"Psst, earth to Lady. Look who Sandy brought," she giggled. Dr. Benzedrine was setting up a telescope. "It was a trap," I gasped. I shot a dirty look at Star. She stuck out her tongue. "Now's your chance to talk to him again," she nudged me. Dropping our bags. We put our tent up next to the boys' tent. Mr. Sandman built the fire pit. He threw in some logs and Benzi added some of the green ooze. Skipping around he jumped Benzi. "Light'em up up up," Sandy sang. Dr. Benzedrine lit a match and tossed it in. "Fire!" They both sang. The two best friends laughed. Star wondered over to them. "Why the green ooze?" She asked. "With the right chemicals, it helps the fire burn longer," Dr. Benzedrine explains. I sat down on one of the benches. Watching everyone talk. "Can we make s'mores?" Star asked excitedly. "Of course Sugar, I promised we could and I brought a whole bunch of stuff for them," Sandy put his arm around her and lead her away from the pit. Out of the corner of my eye, Sandy snuck a kiss on her cheek. Benzi sat next to me. "Hey, um... hello Lady Benzedrine...are you excited see the comet?" he asked nervously. "Hello Doctor," I said flatly. "How are you feeling? Is Suki okay?" He asked checking on me and my sugar glider. "I feel bad I left her alone, but she's with Dani tonight. As for me, I guess I'm okay. Not a fan of camping. I regret telling Star I'll join," I told him, "I should have known."

"I'm sorry about making you uncomfortable."

"It's fine."

"I didn't know Sandy and Miss Sandman were going to invite you. I mean I wanted to invite you myself, but I figured you wouldn't want to join. "

"You were?" I blushed. Dr. Benzedrine fiddled with his bow tie. He always looked so cute when he did that. My cheeks felt warm like the campfire. Watching the stars in the night sky with him was always boisterous. I remember Benzi being gentle and sweet. My breathing hitched. I'm doing it again. My heart is pounding like crazy and my mind is fuzzy. It's so hard to think when he's around. I stood up quickly. "Sorry," I pardoned myself. I sped over to Star. I grabbed her arm and yanked her away from Mr. Sandman. "Just a sec," I gave him a weak grin. I started to hyperventilate. "What... is ... wrong with me? My brain is malfunctioning. It's like a virus is in there," my voice was small. Miss Sandman's eyes widened. "Oh gee whizz. Wow Lady Benzi, you look sick. Are you okay?" She said concerned. "I'm not okay. I promise," I told her. Star took a good hard look at my expression. Her smile stretched. "Oh shoot!" She said in a hushed scream. Her hands covered my shoulders. Shaking me, Miss Sandman said, "You like him. You still have feelings for him, there is no other explanation." I broke away.

"No. Absolutely not! I don't want to get hurt again. Plus I don't want to hurt him. I learned my lesson last time."

"This could be different. Give him a chance."

"Hell no. I rather just be friends."

Star exhaled.

"Lady, you don't have much of a friendship with him left. You're hurting him still by shutting him out too. You barley hang out with him and sit alone in your room. When was the last time you invented anything? I'm worried about you sis," she expressed to me, "Your going back to your old habits. It's scaring everyone. We love you. We care."
