chapter eighteen

we arrive to the bowling alley. i see tendou, ushijima, and another boy with ash blonde hair waiting near the entrance.

"do you need me to come with you?" tsutomu asks at the sight of the three unfamiliar, older boys.

"no, i'll be fine. i'll text you when to pick me up."

"have fun."

"..i'll try."

i step out the car and walk towards the trio. okay, that's really ushijima— holy shit he's taller in person.. and still so fine- shhhh, stop.

"fukuhara! you made it!"

i nod and look at tendou's friends.

"oh! this is semisemi! semisemi, this is fukuhara-chan~"

"call me semi."

"hi, semi."

"and this.. wakatoshi-kun? where did he-"

i point to the entrance. tendou groans and starts walking to the entrance, semi and i trailing behind him.

"wakatoshi-kun, get back here and introduce yourself!"

"tendou, it's fine, really."

"no, it's not! that's no way to treat a friend of mine."

friend? ok..

"i don't want to." ushijima refuses. tendou bugs him all the way to the shoe rental as we request sizes. well, fuck you too, ushijima.

"wow, fukuhara-san. i'm surprised you're good at bowling." semi says as i sit down next to him after getting a strike. ushijima goes up next.

"what's so surprising?"

"well, considering your heigh-"

"height has nothing to do with bowling, semisemi."

"tendou, what have you done to her."

"what have i what?" tendou questionably looks at semi.

"you got her calling me semisemi."

tendou holds his hand up for a high five while laughing. i return the gesture and wait for the next turn.

my phone rings as it's my turn. tsutomu? "sorry, i have to take this."

i get up from my seat and walk towards the bathroom.

"hello?"

"chinami, you have visitors. i am coming to pick you up."

"if it's the boys, don't."

"it's not them."

oh..?

"i'll be there in fifteen."

i sigh and go back to the three.

"everything alright?" tendou questions as i grab a ball.

"uh, yeah, i just have to leave in fifteen. i have company, i guess."

"ahh, that's okay!"

the fifteen minutes goes by extremely fast and tsutomu texts that he's outside.

"thanks for inviting me, tendou."

"anytime!"

"bye, semisemi~"

semi sucks his teeth with a small smile, "bye, fukuhara."

i clear my throat. "bye, ushijima."

"bye."
