Masky's POV
It was around midnight now, exhausted from the work Slender made me do just after Leila went to bed.I sat down on the chair right beside my bed and reached my hand up to take off my mask, getting ready for a long needed shower. My fingers had only brushed it when I heard a double-knock at my door. With a sigh, I yelled "Come in!"
"Hey, Masky." Luna said, poking her head inside then fully coming in and closing the door behind her.
"Hi, Luna." I replied back to her politely, then shifting my elbows onto my knees. "Is something wrong?"
"Actually, yes. I came to talk to you about Leila." She came over and sat on the bed, facing towards me with her white eyes looking into my mask's. "You see, I've never actually been through this transition since I wasn't here when Slender used it on you, Hoodie, or Jeff. So, I just wanted some clarification."
"Go ahead. Shoot." I said getting slightly impatient. This will keep me up a while longer.
"How come Leila didn't remember what a handshake was, and she didn't know how to eat properly?" I paused, then nodded before starting.
"You see Luna, the potion we used is not perfect. Just as no other thing is. We can not be completely assured that it will erase all of the victum's memories - or any at all for that matter, depending on how much of it we use. What is does do, however, is take her strongest memories, words, people, shows- everything, and stores it into a deeper part of her mind. Take Smile, for instance, she didn't have a dog growing up, but according to Slender, one of her earlier friends had. So, she did not forget how to pet a dog. But, growing up, meeting new people usually involved shaking hands, so it was concluded as one of her stronger ones. Plus, she had only slept a few hours, so specific words, people, images, or actions can trigger her memory, due to either A. not giving her enough of the potion, or B. Some of her memories etc. were stronger than the rest." I explained to her.
"So, basically it's just one giant variable problem?"
"Yeah, I guess.."
"How long would you say 'til she starts to regain some of her memories?" Girls are always so curious.
"I'm not too sure, it all depends on how weak they were. Though, I wouldn't say too long." I paused for a second. " Perhaps about 2 weeks to a month and a half."
"That short?!" She exclaimed at me, "I'm no genius in this, but Slender must've really rushed into this one, huh." I chuckled.
"Yeah, he says there's something 'special' about her and that it'd be a bigger risk if we waited any longer. Due to this, we couldn't make too much of the potion." I said rubbing the back of my neck.
"Special? You mean like the rest of us?"
"Yeah."
"Is that why she hasn't gone insane yet?"
"Yup. But to be honest, I don't really see what's the difference between her and us. We all ended up killers, no way she's any different."
"Huh, guess so. I feel bad for Jack. How long do you think he'll last till he's able to eat kidney's again?"
"I'm not sure, I mean, he doesn't just eat kidneys, that's bad for the health. He can eat other things too, but he prefers kidney's overall. Remember the time he lost a bet and Jeff forced him to eat a salad?" She smiled and laughed.
"Yeah, he ate that thing really fast, who knew?"
"Yeah, well, it's getting late and I have more work for Slender tomorrow, not including Leila, and I still need to take a shower. So...?"
"Oh! Sorry about that Masks." She had said getting up and heading for the door. She opened it then paused before leaving. "And just so you know, I'll wake up Leila tomorrow, don't want you doing anything dirty to her." She winked at me then shut the door behind her as I sighed. She can be as bad as Jeff sometimes. I smiled, preparing my clothes for when I get out. At least she saved me from having to answer more of Leila's questions. I might actually be able to finish early tomorrow, I thought as I went into the shared bathroom.
