Mu Rulan was completely unaware that someone had seen right through the case already. She was sitting in the classroom, listening thoughtfully to the teacher.
When the bell rang for recess, Mu Rulan planned to step out for lunch with Mu Rusen and Mu Rulin. But as she stepped out of the classroom door, she heard Ou Kaicheng calling her name.
"Rulan," he said, voice a little hoarse.
She turned back to see Ou Kaicheng walking to her. The twins' heads popped up from behind her.
Ou Kaicheng furrowed his brows when he saw the two, a hint of dislike flashing through his eyes.
"What's wrong, Kaicheng?" asked Mu Rulan, smiling.
Ou Kaicheng's cold visage softened, his tone warming as well. "Aunt Mian's birthday celebration is in three days. You should come over."
Mu Rulan nodded. "Alright, but this time remember to give me the invitation."
"Alright, I won't forget this time."
"Then... We're about to have lunch. Want to come?" she asked.
"Sis!" Mu Rusen immediately grabbed Mu Rulan's arm, obviously unhappy as he looked defensively at Ou Kaicheng.
Mu Rulin's eyes under his lenses were also flashing a warning. Almost the entire senior year of Liu Silan knew of Ou Kaicheng's intentions towards Mu Rulan. Naturally, the twins also knew about this.
Ou Kaicheng could send the gunpowder in the air and squinted his eyes slightly. He answered, "Alright."
"You...!" Mu Rusen was riled up, unable to hold back. But luckily Mu Rulin reacted in time and pulled at him.
Mu Rusen frowned and turned back at his twin, only to see his younger brother shaking his head. He didn't understand what Mu Rulin meant, but pressed his lips tightly together, looking altogether unpleasant.
Mu Rulan seemed oblivious, carrying on a conversation with Ou Kaicheng as they walked.
"You said Aunt Mian is moving?"
"Mn. I heard she bought a house at the Qinghe resort. She's moving after her birthday, probably for a fresh start."
Mu Rulan nodded, eyelids fluttering down as she smiled like usual. "Is that so? She must be going to house number three, right? I remember Aunt Mian telling me that the number 3 was her lucky number."
Ou Kaicheng nodded.
"Sister, who is Aunt Mian?" Mu Rusen asked, joining in.
"Oh, Aunt Mian is the sister of Kaicheng's mother. Mm, sworn sister."
Mu Rulin furrowed his brows. Why would Mu Rulan be so close to Ou Kaicheng's aunt? Judging by Ou Kaicheng's attitude, he was obviously trying to use this matter to get closer to Mu Rulan.
The four of them arrived at the cafeteria.
The three young boys went to order their food. Mu Rulan had just sat down when she heard someone call her name. She turned back to see Zhou Yaya sitting at the table behind hers.
Zhou Yaya was sitting there along. Ever since that incident, Zhou Yaya had been excluded by the students of Liu Silan. Even if Mu Rulan said that she forgave her, nobody dared to get close to her, despite her status as the daughter of the mayor.
Mu Rulan nodded to her and turned her back. She did not greet her nor did she invite her to sit together, which caused Zhou Yaya to be dumbfounded.
This was completely different than how she had imagined it would go! Although she didn't completely understand Mu Rulan, didn't she always give off a very gentle, kind image, pretending to have a good temper? Now that she saw her helpless junior being isolated by others, shouldn't she at least show some care?!
Zhou Yaya crumpled the corner of her shirt in her fist, her forehead covered with shadows. She continued to stare at the back of Mu Rulan's head. Did she truly intend to discontinue her facade as a good person?
Zhou Yaya was very angry. Initially she had thought Mu Rulan was fake or truly kind and innocent. And if so, why not use this as a weapon? But she did not expect that things wouldn't go as planned.
"Senior," Zhou Yaya stood up and walked to Mu Rulan.
"Oi! What are you trying to do?!" Mu Rusen threw his food aside and rushed to block her. He looked watchfully at Zhou Yaya's hand, in case she tried to hit Mu Rulan again.
When Zhou Yaya saw Mu Rusen running to rush in front of Mu Rulan just to protect her, her heart ached.
The resentment she had managed to suppress immediately flooded her mind. She bit her tongue hard, trying not to drown in the emotions, her sharp nails having already pierced into the skin of her palms, the faint smell of blood tanging the air.
Ya...
A delicious scent, ya...
What was she to do? She seemed to have become more psycho and become more bloodthirsty. She looked at Zhou Yaya, hand itchy. How she wished... she could trick her into the dark villa and share those beautiful puppets with her.
What sort of expression would she reveal when she saw them? Would she act panicked, like Jin Moli, face turning pale? Would she steal a fruit knife and try to run out of the house?
Ah, she couldn't help but look forward to it... How she wished she could do something bad, take her operation knife and cut that body open to see if the heart she hated the most was black or red in color. How fast would it beat? Would her heart stop when she saw her?
But...
It wasn't yet time. The plan needed to be set step by step. Slowly, don't get pumped up, don't rush...
Mu Rulan's smile deepened. She patted Mu Rusen's shoulder gently, asking, "What's with the overreaction? Let's hear what Yaya Tongxue has to say."
