Leona's Pride

The Tragedy Chap.13

you quickly went to take Kokoa upstairs and you put him in his bassinet before leaving the room quietly and as you went back downstairs you saw Leona speaking to a guard but it wasn't one of your guards they were in the uniform of Afterglow Savanah soaked from the rain and you went next to Leona holding onto his arm 

your brows furrowed "what happened Is everything alright"

the guard bowed "your Majesty It's about King Farena"

you looked up at Leona to see his face was filled with worry but then what was next said made you both fill with dread 

the guard lowered his head "the palace was attacked and....the king along with his wife were assassinated"

you gasped putting a hand over your mouth but then you looked up to see Leona his face was filled with shock but then he dropped to his knees and you got on your knees hugging him as you started to cry shaking your head "no it can't be...."

you gasped looking up at the guard "w...what about Cheka is he safe!"

the guard turned and you saw another guard coming carrying something in his arms and it was revealed to be Cheka you stood up as the guard handed you him 

"we...were able to save the young prince in time but he now has a fever from the rain we didn't have time to waste so we ran here from the mirror portal"

you nodded then held Cheka tight as more tears streamed down your cheeks but then you looked down at Leona who was still on the ground but you saw him shaking 

you sniffled looking at the guards and they bowed to you before leaving and you closed the doors going over to lay Cheka down on the chair before you helped Leona to stand and he was crying silently as you walked over to lounge and he sat down in his chair blankly staring at the floor which made your heartbreak even more then you went to get Cheka picking him up and taking him upstairs to the nursery  putting him in warm clothes before tucking him in the bed putting a cold cloth on his forehead as he had a fever

you held his hand "I..I'm so sorry...so sorry" you started to cry again but then he woke up rubbing his eyes and smiled seeing you "Auntie I missed you...."

you stroked his head "hi sweetie I missed you too"

he looked around "why am I at your house"

"you're sick so you'll be staying here until you feel better alright"

Cheka nodded but then he coughed and you put the covers back over him before you sang him a lullaby as he fell back asleep so you took this chance to go back downstairs and check on Leona he was still sitting but he was looking at the ceiling now and you walked over to him 

"dear are you alright..."

he looked over at you before he stood up coming over to you then he embraced you in a tight hug and you hugged back rubbing his back 

he shook his head " my brother's dead do you understand what this means now..."

you realized "Cheka is...the new king...but he's too young so it falls to..."

Leona sighed "me..."

you gasped but then he cupped your face "I'm now king of Afterglow Savannah"

he let you go before walking back over to sit down and he buried his face in his hands and you wiped your tears before walking over getting on your knees in front of him 

"dear please don't worry about that now.."

he looked at you "how is Cheka"

you sighed "he has a fever and is resting but now...the poor darling is...is...without parents this is horrible...h...how could this happen" 

Leona brought you onto his lap and you cried into his shoulder as a few more tears fell from his eyes and he held you close "I..I finally patched things up with him...and now...this happens..."

he wiped his tears before cupping your face "love we...we'll have to take care of their funeral"

you nodded "yes and raise Cheka from now on but please don't say anything to him about his parents yet he's just a little boy"

he kissed your cheek "I won't I promise"

you rubbed his back "Leona I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry about Farena"

Leona looked up "I know...he and I were starting to get our bond back...I..I regret everything I've felt towards him all that hatred and envy...everything I never got to apologize"

you sniffled "I'm sure he knew you were sorry he's always loved you and I know you loved him too"

Leona buried his face in your shoulder and you held him but then you heard crying from upstairs and you stood up going to check in the nursery it was Kokoa so you went to pick him up and soothed him it seemed like he knew something was wrong 

you rocked him "shh...It's okay" he then calmed down and you put him back in his bassinet

Cheka wined and woke up with tears in his eyes "Auntie...It hurts..."

you went over "what's the matter sweetie"

"sickie In my stomach" 

you took the cold cloth off his forehead and picked him up taking him to the bathroom where he soon vomited and you cleaned him up before taking him back to bed tucking him in then you went to go change into your nightgown as for the rest of the evening you took care of Cheka and tended to Kokoa's needs then Leona came upstairs into the nursery seeing you read a book to Cheka and he came over sitting next to you into which made Cheka get up to hug him and Leona held him tight as he fought back the tears but it became too much and he got up leaving 

Cheka got back under the covers as he coughed a bit and you gave him some water you then tucked him back in before putting a new cold cloth on his forehead and you stroked his ears 

Cheka smiled "goodnight auntie..."

you smiled "goodnight Cheka" he then fell asleep and you kissed his cheek before getting up to leave closing the door behind you and you went to your bedroom to see Leona was in bed with the covers over his head so you closed the door behind you before walking over getting in bed you turned over putting your hand on his shoulder "dear...I'll just leave you be if you want the space alright" you then leaned over turning off the lamp before laying down pulling the covers over yourself but you didn't fall asleep so soon in fact you found it hard to sleep especially with the events of tonight and you started getting emotional again which made you get out the bed and put on your robe as you went to go stay in the nursery sitting at Cheka's bedside as it stormed more into the night and there you stayed until you eventually went back to bed and you found Leona outside on the balcony you started to walk up to him but you thought he'd need personal space for awhile so you got back in bed turning over as a few tears streaked down your cheeks.
