A/N: I'm sorry for not updating! Writer's block is BRUTAL. I'm still trying to find muse for the next few chapters, but this is what I was able to scrape up- so sorry if it's kind of bad HAHA

I left back home early due to the surprise attack. My parents bombarded me with questions about what had happened.
"None of your stuff got burnt, right?"
"Please tell me you didn't lose the earrings I let you borrow?"
Not once did they bother to ask, 'Are you alright?' I wasn't surprised, though. That's just how they were.
Needless to say, I was not looking forward to the next school year. I said goodbye to my parents at King's Cross Station and darted for the train. I was quick to find a booth to sit at so I wouldn't have to speak with Ron or the others. I found a compartment with a few Ravenclaws that liked to keep to themselves, and sat myself there. They were deeply immersed in the novels they were reading. I decided to get some light reading done as well, seeing as there was nothing better to do. Before I knew it, the train had arrived at Hogwarts.
I hunched my head down as I exited the Hogwarts express, and just as I was about to get off, I felt a tug on my shoulder.
"Hey! How was your summer? You barely owled..."
I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it was my friend, Dean Thomas, greeting me.
"I'm sorry, Dean! I was really busy this summer-"
"Yeah, busy shagging Weasley." He laughed.
I jabbed him in the ribs, a bit too harshly as he let out a grunt of pain.
"My bad!" I winced, "But you deserved it."
He smirked, "Where is the bloke anyway? Shouldn't you have been sitting with him."
I bit my lip, "Right- I didn't see him, and the train began to move and I had to find a seat." I lied.
"Aw, well, why don't we go looking for him. I'm sure he's worried about you-"
"Oh, I completely forgot!" I interrupted, "I have to do a thing- yes."
"A thing?"
I nodded, "Yup, a very important thing. Nice chat, Dean!" I waved goodbye to him before scurrying away and hiding in a big mob of students.
They were all pointing towards the sky, a golden and pearl white carriage flew across the night sky. Everyone oohed and aahed at the sight of it. Behind it, a large boat rose from the Black Lake. Curious and very excited, we ran into the school to find out what was going on.
We waited anxiously for the Sorting Ceremony to end and then gobbled up our dinner. Dumbledore finally reached the podium, and we all stared at him wide-eyed.
"Students of Hogwarts, I have a very exciting announcement to make to you all." He started, "This year we are to have the honor of hosting a very exciting event over the coming months, an event that has not been held for over a century. It is my very great pleasure to inform you that the Triwizard Tournament will be taking place at Hogwarts during the school year."
"You're joking!" I heard Fred Weasley exclaim.
Dumbledore continued, "The Triwizard Tournament was first established some seven hundred years ago as a friendly competition between the three largest European schools of wizardry: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. A champion was selected to represent each school, and the three champions competed in three magical tasks. The schools took it in turns to host the tournament once every five years, and it was generally agreed to be a most excellent way of establishing ties between young witches and wizards of different nationalities- until, that is, the death toll mounted so high that the tournament was discontinued."
