MILLIE GIGGLED AT IRIS as she fiddled with her precious rings. Iris covered her mouth as if in shock, but secretly enjoying everything that came out of Millie's lips.

"Tyson Smith?" Aura's throat dried at the mention of his name.

"Yeah," Millie giggled some more, "do you know him?"

Aura bit down on her lip. There was no point in lying to them, but she wasn't about to tell them about her status. If she told them how close she was to Tyson, they would figure out she didn't come from money. Not that she was poor, but in comparison to them, maybe she was.

The concept of money was a tricky thing for her. In reality, she was comfortable. She was grateful for being comfortable, but to these rich people, she might seem like she was nothing. She had surrounded herself with enough rich people to know how lowly some of them thought of others. People who work hard to provide for their humble life were thought of as unimportant and stupid. How dare they work for the life they want and like? Aura despised the thought process, but it was the way some people were. Millie Moore fit that mold like she was made for it, and Aura was not about to be thrown into that unimportant category.

"I do." Aura chuckled. "I've seen him around town."

Millie nodded. "So you know he's cute, like obviously, but he was just too poor."

Iris erupted in more giggles. Aura chuckled from time to time, sipping her champagne. Her mind was elsewhere, however.

She didn't know how to properly answer. The reality was that no matter how much she disliked the mentality, she was programmed to think similarly. She never liked guys with less money than her. In fact, she preferred rich guys above all else.

It was exciting. They could give her experiences she had never dreamed of living. They gifted her items she would only look at from an online website wistfully. They were extravagant and thrilling. Why wouldn't Aura want to go for them?

Of course, they never really worked out because she had other things in her top priority. A relationship was never at the forefront of her vision, like she told Corey. But some relationships could help her out with her vision, so that was why she liked to dive into them head first. And it wasn't like she couldn't deny that she loved relationships. She liked the idea of having someone, but it was never that important.

Truth be told, she adored the beginnings of relationships. It was fun and electrifying. The uncertainty of it all. The tiptoeing around the other. Trying to figure out each other like a puzzle. Planning dates all the time because it's better to be with the other person. Until she got tired of it.

"Millie, you sound like such a bitch," Iris gasped. Millie cocked her head to the side with a shrug. A smile adorned her glossy nude lips.

"Okay, but wouldn't you dump him too?" Millie giggled. "If he had more money, I'd still be on that." She quirked an eyebrow, and Aura wished the ground would swallow her whole right then and there.

They were speaking about her childhood best friend as if he was disposable. He was a person too. He didn't deserve to be spoken about that way. Even though she preferred rich guys, she wouldn't be out there talking crap about someone else because they didn't fit her standards. She'd leave the matter alone and move on.

Millie and Iris didn't seem to get the memo.

"That's why we don't blame you for going for Zachary." Iris tapped her arm again. She gave Aura a sly smirk before nodding towards the boys in the back. "He's filthy rich. His father is the owner of The Siren and the other beach clubs in town."

Aura's blood ran cold at the new information. She looked back at Zachary, who was now accepting a glass of champagne from a server.

"And rumor has it, he's gonna be handed down a club. Maybe even this one." Iris shrugged before sipping more of her drink.
