RIDING THE HIGH FROM her makeup feature, Aura made a new fantasy look inspired by forests. She turned herself into a fairy-like creature, and even used sticks she found on the ground in her hair to make it more authentic to her vision.

The look got the response she had only ever dreamed of getting. Her phone went crazy with notifications to the point where it overheated and crashed. She was surprised at the reaction, but after that feature maybe it was normal.

She laid on Tyson's lap as his fingers ran through her hair. She scrolled through her comments, frowning at particularly ugly ones, but smiling at the super sweet ones. There were more positive reactions than negative, so she chose to focus on the good.

"You still have random sticks in your hair," he said, pulling out a tiny one that used to be tangled.

"Oops." She giggled as he shook his head.

She went back to scrolling through her comments when she decided to refresh her account. Suddenly, a wave of comments caught her eye on her wooden fairy look. She frowned as many of them said the same thing in different ways.

Elaine made me come here

Elaine Cavette made me lmao

Elaine made me

Who's here because of Elaine's post??

Aura stood up, sitting with her legs crossed under her. More of the same comments kept bombarding her latest post. She frowned at her phone and decided to look up the long forgotten makeup artist that replaced her for Lacey Redd's shoot at the beginning of summer.

She went out of her page and searched the makeup artist once again. She remembered stalking her page when Lacey Redd's pictures came out and burning with jealousy. Now, that was all gone, especially after watching a few of her videos with Corey. Aura settled on enjoying her artistry and leaving it at that.

Elaine's followers were still rising, but it didn't bother Aura anymore. After her feature, she was happy enough. However, her latest post caught her eye.

It was a simple text post saying: "Imagine giving an irresponsible makeup artist a platform. She should not be trusted." The caption below was only two barfing emojis, but that was enough to get the message across. To make matters worse, when Aura checked, Elaine had specifically tagged her on the post, further emphasizing who she was referring to.

"Tyson." Her voice came out shaky as she turned around. He rubbed circles on her back as he hummed in response. "Look at this."

She handed him her phone. He frowned as he read Elaine's post, and then his eyebrows furrowed even more once he realized Aura was tagged.

"Who is this person?" He asked, going back to her profile.

Aura inhaled shakily. "That was the makeup artist that replaced me for a shoot. I was going to do Lacey Redd's makeup, but because of this trip, I had to cancel it, unfortunately. I later found out she was hired instead."

Tyson's frown deepened. "So why is she posting some cryptic message about you if she doesn't even know you?"

She shrugged and took her phone back. She went on her notifications panel and saw multiple posts about the brewing drama between the two. Nausea crept up inside her as she clicked on one of the posts.

A random beauty drama account gave a spotlight to Elaine and her message. They continued sprouting allegations that she was saying how Aura didn't deserve to be recognized. Her insides twisted uncomfortably as she went through the comments.

Many people were defending Aura, saying her looks were precise and incredible, so she deserved to be recognized. Others weren't so kind and were basically saying that Elaine had a reason to post that, so there must have been something going on.

Immediately, she went out of her socials account and texted Gwenn in a hurry. Her fingers trembled over the touch keypad as she punched in her message.

Aura: g.. a makeup artist I don't even know posted a hateful message towards me and now I'm getting soo many hate comments I can't even breathe

She sent the text and went back to her account. Her breath hitched when she saw how there was now a new wave of comments under her post demanding to know what she did or just plainly hating on her.

Tears threatened to fall from her eyes when she went over to her direct messages and saw many asking what had happened between her and Elaine while others simply sent disgusting words her way, but Tyson took her phone out of her hand and hid it behind his legs.

"If you shut it off, there's no evidence that it exists," he offered.

Aura nodded, and buried her face in his chest. He pressed a soft kiss on top of her head as the whirlwind of emotions overwhelmed her.

Everything was going so good. Why did Elaine have to cut a tree and let it fall in front of her when her path had just started to clear up?

"Don't worry, Ari," Tyson squeezed her momentarily. "It's the internet. People will forget about it by tomorrow."

"I hope you're right," she mumbled, as her eyes found her locked phone. Temptation encircled her mind as she thought about grabbing it again and checking everything, but she knew she'd feel worse afterwards. She needed to turn the other cheek and let the whole thing die down on its own, and hopefully Elaine could stay out of her way.
