Chapter 10

The next morning I wake up without a feeling of dread at the pit of my stomach, instead it was a feeling of confidence. I know that whatever was going to happen with the packs would all work out as long as I had Aurora by my side to help.

Speaking of Aurora she wasn't besides me when I woke. It was strange to say the least since she would always sleep in a little after dawn and I'm the one who was usually up at that time. I look over at the night stand.

9:05 A.M.

It was early, too early for Aurora to be awake so...Where is she? Getting off the bed I slide on my pants followed by my shirt and walk down the hallway. As I got farther down I notice that my office door was cracked open and the light was on. My eyebrows furrowed in utter confusion.

No one else should be in there except me or Zach.

Slowly, I open the door all the way to see papers and files scattered all over the floor but not in just any way...A pattern. My eyes widened when I see Aurora sitting in my chair with her legs crossed on the table and eyes staring at the desk.

"Baby? What are you doing in here?" I ask her and she chuckles bitterly.

"Are you kidding me right now?"

I had no idea what she was talking about but then I followed where her eyes were landed on. A familiar file sat on top of the desk and it was open.

Shit.

This wasn't suppose to happen. She didn't need to know this type of information, not yet.

"Aurora I can explain-

"Don't bother," She finally looks up at me, "I already figured it out."

"Y-You did?"

"Mhm, I knew something was up when you snapped at me the other day for looking through your work but I just thought it was some important Alpha like business that had nothing to do with me but I was so fucking wrong." Her tone held anger, something that I have never seen in her before.

"Anyways I decided to investigate so I snuck in here last night and read the file that you so desperately tried to hide from me, for a minute I thought what I was looking at was all just a dream and I would wake up any minute but it was far more than that, right? You knew what you did and didn't even bother to say a word, Jaxon. I thought we were in this together and we wouldn't keep secrets from each other so what the hell do you call this?" Suddenly she slams her hand on the papers on the desk.

I didn't know what to say or do at this point. She obviously knew what I have done all those years ago and of course she wasn't taking it well. I knew I should have told her but I was afraid if I did then she wouldn't look at me the same.

"Aurora-

"Oh! And it turns out that I'm the daughter of the most powerful Alpha in the world, did you also know that?" She laughed like she was on the brink of insanity.

"Yes."

She scoffed.

"It figures, considering the fact that you slaughtered him in cold blood." I sigh.

"It was a accident."

"How the fuck is murdering someone an accident if it was your intention all along?"

"You don't understand-

"That's because there is nothing to understand Jaxon, you're a murder and a liar. And that is all I need to know about you." I felt my heart shatter at her words.

"Just hear me out." I beg.

Reluctantly she nods.

"Years ago there was a war that broke out between my pack and the Sun Cove pack. Your father, Kai Spartan became outraged by the lack of water so he decided to do something about it. He called a meeting for all the neighboring packs to come together and make a decision which we did but Kai didn't agree. We decided that if we broke the pipes individually to each pack then we would all have the equal amount of water traveling through although Kai wanted more than that."

"So he got pissed about some Crystal Geyser?" Aurora asked and I shook my head.

"It was beyond that, he wanted more warriors to join his pack also to improve his army but when none of the other Alphas agreed Kai got furious. He then made the decision to take matters into his own hands, by using force." I conclude.

"H-He started the war?" I nod.

"I tired to reason with him Aurora but he wouldn't listen so we had no choice but to engage." Aurora's features softened.

"Then what about my mom? What was her role in all of this madness?"

"She actually was on our side and of course Kai didn't like that she betrayed him so when him and I confronted each other your mother jumped in between us, in a attempt to make peace. Kai didn't want to hear anything she had to say so he shifted and charged at me in wolf form and that's when Nova was badly injured. Kai felt no remorse once he attacked her as he kept trying to get to me but I was more worried about your Mother to notice and that's when he pounced on me. We fought for what felt like hours until I defeated him. When all was said and done I returned to Nova's side but...It was too late." Tears escaped from Aurora's eyes.

"S-She bled out Aurora. I'm so sorry baby, it wasn't supposed to end like that."

"So that means you weren't responsible?" I sigh.

"No but I should be. I'm the one who let things escalate and now hundreds of people are dead."

"Please don't be sorry Jaxon. I should have never judged you so quickly without hearing your side of the story."

"Which sucked." I chuckled humorously.

"But it was the truth and that is what matters the most."

"I'm sorry that I lied to you, I really didn't know how to explain because either way I said it you would be hurt."

"I understand Jax, I guess I need to learn how to accept things the way they are but I'm still mad that you hid this from me." She frowns.

"I know and I'll do whatever it takes for you to forgive me."

"Just do me a favor."

"Anything." I say eagerly.

"If lie to me again," Her eyes turn gold and I knew that Mileena was in control,"I'll chop off your fucking balls and shove them so far down your throat that they'll come out of your ass like shit, understand?" I gulped at her words.

"Yes Ma'am."

"Good." Soon her eyes turned back to their original color.

"Now tell me," Aurora smiles innocently as if her wolf didn't just threaten me moments ago.

"What's for breakfast?"
