Marinette tapped her finger against her laptop, staring blankly at the screen in front of her. It was Saturday and they were at their usual project meeting. Marinette was going to visit Adrien that night and she was nervous about telling him she was late.

How would he react? Would he dump her? Would he be mad? Should she tell him before it's been confirmed?

"Hellooo, Earth to Marinette!" Alya called, waving her hand in front of Marinette's face.

Marinette jumped back, startled. Luckily, she was sitting on the bed, so her laptop landed safely on the soft comforter.

The boys both turned to look at her confused while Alya raised a brow.

"You good, girl?" Alya asked.

Marinette swallowed nervously, her heart beating almost painfully against her chest. She wasn't sure if that was from the scare or her nerves.

She nodded hesitantly.

Alya frowned, Nino and Adrien now having somewhat concerned looks.

"Are you sure?" Adrien asked. Their friendship had started to grow and improve. Adrien did feel genuinely guilty for the way he had treated her, so he tried his best to fix it.

Marinette nodded, fixing her position on the bed and reaching for her laptop.

"I'm fine, you guys. I'm just a little stressed, that's all. My mind drifted, and I got a little spooked," she replied.

Alya didn't seem to believe this, but a look from Nino made her reconsider saying anything else. She sighed before turning her focus back to her own laptop.

Time flew by, and Alya and Nino had already left. Marinette was getting ready to leave too when Adrien stopped her. He reached out and grabbed her shoulder.

"Are you sure you're ok?" he asked. "You looked pretty lost in thought back there."

Marinette felt extremely nervous under his gaze. The spot under his hand felt hot.

She nodded nervously, looking away.

"I j-just have a lot on my mind, that's all," she managed to squeak out.

Adrien frowned at this. He removed his hand and Marinette visibly relaxed. This didn't go unnoticed by Adrien, but he decided not to comment on it.

"I know our friendship isn't the best, and I almost ruined it, but you can trust me. I'm still here for you, and I'll always be here for you," he spoke softly.

Marinette swallowed before turning her gaze towards him. To her surprise, his face was full of concern. Her cheeks were dusted with a soft blush, and her eyes widened slightly. He really did care about her, about Marinette.

"I know. Thank you, Adrien. I'm glad our friendship is getting better. But truly, I'm fine. I just have a lot on my mind," she smiled.

Adrien's expression softened, but the concern in his eyes wasn't gone.

"Well, if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you, ok?"

She nodded, "Thank you. Bye, Adrien."

"Bye," he waved as she turned around and walked out.

.

Marinette grabbed a small purse and some pads. She still hadn't gotten her period but was hopeful. Since it was difficult for her to see Adrien (as Ladybug) during the week, she decided to at least start spending the night over.
