Marinette still sat on the idea of revealing herself. Even if Chat Noir said everything would be fine, there was no guarantee of that. He didn't know what she was talking about.
She twirled a hair strand, contemplating her choices. She was so lost in thought that she failed to notice when the bell rang from lunch.
Marinette remained unmoving, glaring at her desk until Alya nudged her on the side.
Marinette fell off her seat, startled. Alya and Nino laughed. Adrien tried to contain his laughter as he stretched out his hand to help her up.
"How zoned out were you? I called your name like 3 times, girl!" Alya spoke.
"S-sorry," she sheepishly mumbled.
Marinette blushed in embarrassment, taking Adrien's hand. He pulled her up, and Marinette grabbed her things.
"Ready?" Alya asked. The group nodded, Marinette swinging her bag over her shoulder.
"Good! To the park!"
The group decided that at least twice a week they'd pack lunch and eat in the park.
They arrived at the park after a short walk. Alya took a blanket out of her bag and placed it on the ground. Nino raised a brow. "Aren't you worried about it getting dirty?" he asked.
Alya shrugged, "I like to sit on the ground sometimes, and there's no way I'm getting my jeans dirty! Besides, I can just wash it later."
"It does seem fun to sit on a blanket at the park," Adrien spoke.
"It's like a cute little picnic!" Marinette smiled.
"Exactly!" Alya said, sitting down.
The group sat down, taking out their lunches and digging in. It was quite peaceful. They were used to the rowdiness of restaurants filled with teenagers on their lunch break and the noisy school cafeteria. The park was calm. A few moms were there with their toddlers, but they kept near the playground on the other side of the park.
As they neared the end of their lunch, Alya's phone buzzed. She put her sandwich down and took her phone out.
"There's an akuma!" she gasped.
"What?! Where?!" Marinette and Adrien asked in unison.
Nino sighed, already knowing what was going to happen.
"It's currently a few streets over!" she stood up. "I'm going to go check it out for the ladyblog!"
The group split up, Alya to chase after the akuma, and Nino chasing Alya to make sure she doesn't get hurt. Marinette and Adrien ran off to transform.
When they arrived at the scene, they saw people walking around the streets. However, they were all gray, walking really slow. Ladybug and Chat Noir turned to each other, confused.
"They look a bit discolored, don't you think?" Chat joked. Ladybug rolled her eyes in amusement.
"What the hell happened to them?" she asked, looking around. The akuma had to be near, as Ladybug didn't see any gray people on here way there.
"Ah, Ladybug and Chat Noir, you've arrived."
Both heroes turned to face the akuma. In front of them stood a young woman. She was dressed in a full black suit, much like Ladybug's. On her right hand was a red glove, and on her chest was a broken heart. One of the heart pieces was mostly red, while the other half was entirely white. Her expression was calm, but her makeup was smudged. By the looks of it, she had been crying. Her long brown hair was a mess.
