~Mika~1 Day Later~

I sit on a chair, reading a book when Thiasa, Michen's new girlfriend, walks in. I look up at her and give her a small glare. She is so perfect it makes me mad. She is so kind and poise, perfect traits for an Empress. Like I told Avalon a few days ago, I am nothing compared to her. She gives me one of her perfect smiles before grabbing a book and sitting down. I try to ignore her as she starts to read. But two minutes barely go by before she interuppts the perfect silence.

"Look at this," she says in a boastful voice. I look up to see a ring on her ring finger, several diamonds on the golden band, reminding me of snow., "Michen proposed yesterday. It was so romantic. He took me out to a lake and prepared a perfect meal and then we watched the stars..." I doze off, not caring about her love life with Michen. I am not jealous. I just wish me and her could swap spots for a day, that's all. Soon, her lips stop moving so then I return to the real world.

"It's beautiful," I say, faking a smile as I glare at the ring, wishing it was on my ring finger and not hers. But you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. I go back to mybook and barely even turn the page before she starts to brag once more.

"We are planning on having the wedding in two months," she says, her arm stretches out, her blue eyes admiring the ring, a content smile on her face, "it's going to be a grand event. People everywhere, dancing, celebrating the marriage of their future Emperor and Empress. You can come if you want," my heart wrinches in disgust while I fake a look of sadness.

"I would love too," I say, trying to come up with a quick excuse to avoid the wedding, "but my family will be travelling to Lentworth that month," phew, good one. Her faces falls, a little bit, but not much.

"Aw, what a shame," she says, making a stupid pouty face, "don't worry, I will tell you everything after the honeymoon," I nod and once again try to return to my book, but she still insists on bragging. Eventually, Michen walks in. His brown hair is a bit messy and his blue eyes shine happily. He sees me and gives me a friendly smile, which would have made my knees buckle if I was standing. Instead, I just melt inside. I return the smile and try to busy myself with the book while he sits down to Thiasa, who immediatly starts talking about the wedding plans.

"-so I think the theme should be white and black," she says enthusiastically, "no wait, thats too original," she pauses, thinking. She then gasps loudly enough to make me look up from my book, right eyebrow raised. Michen looks a bit annoyed, but he smiles at his fiance, "it needs to be unique! One of a kind! How about....green! It can be held in the forest! Ooh, it's perfect!"

"Okay, we can do that, Thia," Michen says. I roll my eyes at his nickname for her. I return to my book, "we, and by that, I mean you, need to go learn how to be a decent Empress," Thiasa's face falls and she gets confused.

"Wait..." she says and she stands up slowly, walking towards the door, "what?" I roll my eyes at how naive she can be.

"You can find my mother in one of the studies," Michen says and closes the door on her confused face. I look up, confused.

"You just slammed the door on your fiance's face," I say, giving him the 'are you and idiot' look. He shrugs and sits on a couch, "If I were her, I will kill you later," Michen picks up a book and opens it.

"I need a break from her," he says suddenly, "all I have ever heard about is the wedding since last night," I giggle and look down at my book.

"She loves the ring," I say and he nods.

"Yeah, I'm glad she does," he says, "the only problem is to get her to stop looking at is 24/7," I smile and continue to read my book.
