Chapter 5: Tensions Rise

~Avalon~15 Days Later~

        I wake up early and yawn. I can hear people talking in another room. I sigh when I remember that Kane and my family aren't here. I stand up and stumble as I become dizzy. I stand still as I try to wait through the nausea. Soon, is subsides but is replaced with the urge to throw up. I rush out of my room and into the small bathroom and throw up into a bucket. I set the bucket down in a corner when I am finished and exit the room. Sira approaches me, a letter in her hand. I thank her and retreat back to my room to read the letter.

        It reads that my parents and Michen have went to visit my aunt and uncle in Drinton and won't be back for a week or so and that Kane is at the palace, awaiting my arrival home. I smile at the thought of seeing him next week. I put the letter under my pillow as Sram enters. I look up to him, forcing myself to not glare at him.

        "Yes?" I ask calmly as he sits down next to me.

        "I want to thank you for helping my family out," he says, "it means a lot," I smile politely.

        "You're welcome," I say, looking away.

        "If I can repay the debt in anyway, please tell me," he says. I look at him, eyes wide.

        "N-No there is no ne-" I say but I cut off by a pair of lips on mine. My eyes widen again as I shove him off of me and wipe my lips. He smiles while I stand up, back to the door, as I glare at him.

        "You know you want some," he says, standing up. I shake my head.

        "No," I say firmly before leaving and going outside.

        I enter Rinton, leaving Stryder by the exit. I walk through the town, and into the market place. A few people recognize me and bow/curtsy while some just give me the cold shoulder, whispering about Kane and I. It does bother me, but not much. Soon and arm pulls me out into a dark alley. I look at my attacker to see it Sram. I yank my arm free and glare at him.

        "What?!" I ask harshly.

        "I know you don't love me yet," he says, making me want to throw up, "but I will wait for you," before I can react, he grabs me by the waist and kisses me again. This time, I back away and raise my hand and slap him hard across the cheek. He smiles and shrugs it off.

        "I will NEVER love you!" I say firmly, glaring at him, "so just back off!" I turn around and retreat back to Stryder.

        I sit on a chair outside in the snow, huggingmyself as I watch it snow. All I want is to be with Kane, away from Sram and his family, who seem keen on having Sram and I marry. I stand up and enter the house and go into my room and sleep.

A/N:

Ok, so the actual plot will not start for a few chapters, so the next few chapters will be boring and short, like this one. I apologize, but it was either this or end the book early.
