I grabbed my headphones, making an angry dash to the front door, only to be stopped by Henry, his look was concerned.
"You can't just run away and ignore it." Actually, I could do whatever I wanted, and that's what I planned on doing. I can run away from any problems I want to.
"I'm not running away. I'm running." I was about to go for a jog, my head was too full to confront any issues I was having, I needed to calm down first.
"Be safe. If you don't update me in 30 minutes I'm coming to find you. Text me your route beforehand too." I agreed, anything to get him off my back.
I stood outside the door, tears in my eyes. I blinked them back, took a deep breath, and started jogging, I wasn't sure where I was gonna end up, but I couldn't stay here.
I usually let runs clear my head, but even then, I couldn't get it out of my head. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to cry, but I was jogging so I couldn't.
"Hello? Sean?"
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Huh? I'm fine. I'm jogging. What's up?"I took a small break to talk to Sean, an unscheduled call I decided to answer on a whim. He seemed fast, urgent.
"I'm about to board my plane. You're ready to pick me up right?"
"I'll be there! I haven't forgotten or anything, it'll just be a while until I have to get you."
"Just making sure, you forgot last time..."
"I did not forget, I told you I was sending a cab and you didn't believe me so you missed it!"
"That's because who sends a cab instead of picking me up!"
"Uhh I do! I told you I got you one, but you still looked for my car, that's your own fault!"
"Whatever. But you're coming to pick me up this time? No cab?"
"I'm sorry, did you just say 'no cap' to me?"
"Don't even joke about that, goodbye I love you!"I giggled to myself, looking around me to try to figure out if I wanted to keep going or go home. I decided on keep going, what could Emma's will possibly hold? I don't know, but I'm too stressed about it.
"Legally, he can't tell me until I'm at the appointment. I understand that." I mumbled to myself, I was still frustrated, and that wasn't gonna end any time soon. At least not until Saturday when I find out why we're in the will.
"But surely her family can tell me, or they have to be there too. God, Emma, you really do keep us involved even after death." It wasn't an angry huff, just me getting air out. I should stop talking to myself, but I have to talk it out with someone and this is just unconnected thoughts so it's not really a subject for anyone else.
I groaned as I looked down at my phone, so many people are calling me without asking. First Sean, now Corpse, and I'm sure Henry will be soon.
"Morning."
"Good morning baby, what's wrong?"
"Doesn't matter. What's up?"
"You ended the call and didn't tell me good morning, I'm worried."
"I'm sorry. The past couple days have been unexpectedly hard."
"I'm always here to talk, you know that right?"
"I do I just—I do. I'm just trying to wait until Saturday and it's going to be hard."
"I know baby, but Sean should be there soon right? He can help you keep calm."
"Yeah, he's landing early tomorrow morning. Hopefully, but he's just as stressed as I am, if not more."
"Why is he more stressed?"
"Emma loved him so much, but it doesn't make sense to have him in another part of her will. So it's especially eating him alive, because what could this possibly be?"
"I'm so sorry. I know it's hard. I'm here if you need me though, and we can all hang out together if you want to, I'm free all week."
"You have streams Bub, don't skip work just for me Bub, I'll be okay."
"I can do what I want, right? And I want to be here for you. I'm free all week."
"Fine, I'm gonna call you at 4 in the morning and make you drive 3 hours just to cuddle with me."
"You're definitely underestimating the lengths I will go to cuddle with you."
