Denver's POV (Alix)

TGIF.

It was finally Friday. The first week of school had been grueling, not only because, well, school. But also, because for some reason Sirius seemed to be everywhere I looked.

At the lunch hall. Outside during recess or free periods. At the basketball court. In the halls.

Everywhere I saw him he had tried to get close to me. Walking with that sexy sway to his hip like a prowling animal making his abs visible under his bodypaint shirts. Looking all charming and shizzle.

He was like that arcade game where heads pop up from holes and you have to knock them back down with a mallet.

He was popping up freaking everywhere.

Like I was not annoyed enough with Joshua accepting the invitation to that stupid party and my friends deciding over my head that I had to have a full beauty session at Joshua's house before the party Saturday night, then I had to deal with Sirius being weird too.

I was walking from my last class of the day. All I wanted to do was go home and curl up in a ball with some snacks and do Netflix and chill. The regular kind of chill not that trendy boy/girl way. It was only a few weeks until I turned 18, and from what I had heard most my age were doing it, but I had no desire whatsoever to join the statistics of typical depraved teenage behavior.

I had already had enough 'chill' to last me a lifetime. Let me just say that the system had its flaws and people who should never be let near children sadly were. I might not be overly joyed by living with Maggie, Donald and Rachel but from a foster kid perspective they were a lot better than what else was out there.

As I made my way from my locker to the exit, I realized what I had already had a sneaky suspicion of. And with sneaky suspicion I meant I had seen it through the window from my Spanish class.

It was raining.

Raining like the dam in the sky had broken and every drop of water ever accumulated was pouring down making my walk from school to my house a gauntlet for survival. I would be soaking wet if not drowned and washed away out of the city.

"Hey, wait up!"

I heard the running footsteps behind me and if the little hairs at the back of my neck had not told me then the silkiness of his husky voice did.

Sirius.

"What?" I exclaimed when I turned around and saw him come running at me like he wanted to tackle me.

"Damn, hostile much?" He stopped in front of me with that usual sexy grin and of course, he was not out of breath at all from running.

How was that even possible? I was panting like a dog if I just ran for 5 minutes during PE.

"What do you want?"
"I just wanted to talk with you."

Without asking me he grabbed my bag from my hand and swung it over his shoulder.

"I'll walk you to your car," he said and began walking. All I could do was walk with him to my non-existent car if I wanted to get my bag back.
"I can carry my bag myself and I don't need you to walk me anywhere. I'm not Peter Pan and you're not my shadow."

He laughed at me. His grey eyes twinkled when he looked at me. But he kept my bag and he kept walking.

"So, your name is Denver," he said. "That's unusual. I like it."
"Eh, thank you, though your approval doesn't really do anything for me."
"Relax there, I'm trying to make conversation here."
"And why exactly are you doing that?"

He stopped rather abruptly and gave me a look I did not understand.

"I want to get to know you."
"Well, Bibbidy Bobbidy Bullshit." I did not have time for his mysterious behavior. Why he had even gotten me on his radar was beyond me. I was one of the misfits. I did not go with any of the popular groups, I was barely interesting and I most definite was nothing special to look at.

Mousy brown hair, brown eyes like 70% of the world's population, short. And I was a fashion reject. Jeans and a random top and hoodie was my standard uniform.

Why somebody like Sirius wanted to get to know me had to be a karmic snafu and if I just kept him away from me the universe would go back to normal and he would go pop his tongue down some skank's throat and I could return to my insignificant anonymity.

"Could you just give me my bag, I have a date and I need to get home." He did not need to know it was a date with snacks and Netflix while dressed even more atrocious than I was at school.

"With Mischa?" Sirius asked with a tight jaw.

Mischa? Why the fuck would I have a date with Mischa? Sirius had just upped stalking to plain insane.

"None of your business. Now give me my bag."

Reluctantly he handed me my bag and held the door for me to get outside into the rain. I sighed with relief when he did not say anything else or tried to follow me.

The rain was coming down hard and I was soaked within seconds. I made a left turn and began walking home. It was not really that bad a walk normally. 20 minutes or so if I crossed through the park and did not go around. But in the rain, it felt like days.

5 minutes into my water torture a sleek red sportscar pulled up beside me. The window was rolled down and there once again I was met with those grey eyes.

"Why the hell didn't you tell me you didn't have a car?" he bellowed.
"Not really something I proclaim to complete strangers in passing. Why would I tell you about my transportation?"

He scoffed at me and looked to be strangling the steering wheel by the looks of his knuckles turning white.

"Get in, I'll drop you off at home."
"No thank you, I can swim home myself."
"It wasn't a request. Get in the car or I'll come out there and make you. For fuck's sake, girl, you'll get pneumonia or something."

He was right.

Sighing with defeat I walked to the passenger side and opened the door and slid into the leather seat. The seat would be ruined by all the water I was dragging in with me. I rambled off my address and he pulled out and began driving.

"It's a nice car," I commented looking at the dashboard and feeling the warmth of the seat warmer under my butt.
He visibly puffed up in his seat at my words. "It's a Corvette Stingray," Sirius boasted with pride. "I got it when I became... I mean when I turned 18."

Great. I could now add rich, spoiled brat to my list of things I could hold against him.

The rest of the ride we did in silence. In a car like his it was only 7 minutes or less and I had no desire to talk with him anyway.

"Here we are." He turned in his seat to look at me.
"That we are. Thank you for the ride."

I did not give him a chance to say anything else, I ripped open the door, slithered out and slammed the door behind me before I rushed to get inside and away from him.

I could still smell his cologne.

Hi y'all.

Sirius seems to be on a mission, is he working her down or is he just pushing her away even more? What do you think? Do you like it? Let me know. I do love those comments.

Thank you for reading.
