POV: Nathan Westmore
I'm not sure how long I stood at my locker struggling to balance my backpack on my leg without everything falling as I tried to shove my history textbook inside, I looked over to see my three friends watching me.
"What?" I asked. As if they never saw a 5' 11" (180.34) person balance with such eloquence as I was.
Mandy was the first to say something. "Is it true?" she asked.
I dropped my backpack on my foot and turned to face them. "First off, ouch and second, is what true?" My words might have come off as a bit more irritated than I would have liked, but in my defense my foot hurt and I was confused.
Jax looked like he didn't want to be there for whatever they were going to ask me which was not very helpful. I thought maybe something was wrong, like is it true I have a lifesize cut of Mark Sloan in my room.
No, but I wished I did.
Wait, how did it take me this long to realize I liked guys?
I shook my head out of my McSteamy mind and waited for one of my friends to speak. Mandy hesitated for a moment but was the first to tell me what was happening.
"Um, well there is a rumor that you're seeing someone?" She made it more or a question rather than a statement.
I was more confused as to how anyone would have known. As far as I knew it was only me, Zen, and his siblings—that I knew they wouldn't tell anyone about us. So who knew?
Misty pushed past Mandy and Jax as she grabbed the backpack I dropped and handed it over to me. "What Mads means to ask is, are you and the new kid boning, or do we have to kick some freshmen asses."
Okay, so when she put it like that I did what my body does best, panic. I knew I should have told them sooner I just put it off and when I meant to it just wasn't the right time.
However, not answering was very much an answer on its own.
"I—well," I was at a loss of words the word 'boning' was now all I could think of. Who says it like that anyway?!
"See I told you to just let it go," Jax muttered.
"I was not the one who asked if he was 'boning' someone," Mandy barked back.
"Well you were being a little bitch about it, someone had to ask," Misty started.
One of them grabbed my backpack and shut my locker, even though I watched it happen I couldn't tell you which one.
"Chill a bit, dude. We just wanted to make sure before we go kicking the douchenozzles who made the rumors. No big deal if you are getting ass, congrats if you are."
Mandy smacked Misty on the arm. "Stop talking, it's making him worse."
She turned to me. "Let's go, Nathan, we are going to get lunch and you can tell us whatever you want. You can be mute the whole lunch for all we care. Okay?"
I nodded regaining my composure or what was left of it. I was so dumb for thinking I could hide something from them. Then it just made me wonder why I wanted to anyway. If I couldn't tell them, who could I?
"Wendy's or—" I cut Misty off.
"Wendy's obviously. If we are going somewhere it should be a place with good chicken nuggets," I stated.
Mandy shrugged and we got into Misty's car.
This was a good thing, nothing to worry about. My hands were sweaty but it was because I was caught off guard, that's all.
