I have a fucking rat.

A rat.

I received a call this morning from someone I have on metaphorical Rolodex who said word was spreading about our latest yacht visit—the one where I ended up murdering a man for Everly. He's covered shit from his end, but now I have to sniff out the rat and make sure that he can't betray me a second time.

He couldn't tell me the name of who it is, but I have an idea. Christopher and I have been weary about one of the newer guys. He's an ex-addict, I guess he'd still be an addict. Would forever be one. Christopher warned me about two weeks ago that he thought the guy had relapsed again—caught him sniffing more than someone who isn't supposed to be snorting shit up their nose.

Raze.

That's what he went by, and I have a feeling that Raze is the rat we're looking for.

Everly's hand on my arm brings me back to the present and I immediately attempt to fade back into the conversation as if I never zoned out of it. "I do so hope you'll consider my offer," the man says to me—I'm blanking on his name—and smiles, "I think we'd be a great addition to your casino."

Right, this was the guy that was trying to pitch me into putting some sort of disgusting fast food restaurant into my business. He claims it's a massive money maker, but I couldn't be bothered. My casino isn't just something to make money off, it's a brand. And a fast food place with bad reviews and even worse food doesn't belong inside it.

"Absolutely, I will."

He seems overly pleased. Clearly he believes my lie. "Thank you so much for your time, Mr. Malik." With a quick shake of my hand, he scurries off and I can't be more thankful for the break.

"You seem distracted," Everly informs me, quiet against my ear. "The rat?"

I nod my head, glancing around the room. When I spot Raze on the far side, my hands instantly clench, my chest heaving. If there wasn't an entire room full of witnesses, I'd be sure to put a bullet in the space between his two eyes.

I can't help myself, sauntering across the crowded floor to corner him. His eyes go wide when he sees me approaching, but he recovers quickly. It only heightens my distrust of him.
