Daryl huffed out as he realized that he was the only one left that didn't get a room. He managed to get a shower in Dale's room but Glenn and T-Dog passed out in his room, leaving no space. Picking his stuff up, he decided to just crash in the rec room the doctor had mention. Hopefully they had a couch in there to sleep in. Just as he was going to turn the corner, Colette came from around it with a few water bottles in hand.
She looked up at the man in surprise."Daryl? What are you still doing up?"
He shrugged. "I'm going to crash right now actually."
He went to go around the woman but she stopped him.
"Come on. You can come sleep in my room. I think I'm the only one that didn't share a room with someone."
She began to walk towards her room before stopping once she noticed that the redneck wasn't following after her. Turning around, Cole saw the look of hesitation on his face before rolling her eyes.
"Daryl, come on. Stop over thinking it. It's just me."But Colette didn't realize that was the problem.
She was the problem.
Daryl didn't let people in.
He never has and the fact that this woman was making her way in easily and didnt even know it, made Daryl beyond scared. Of course he would never admit to it out loud.
After going against his best judgment, Daryl followed the woman who lead him into the room she claimed for the time being. He decided he was going to blame the booze in his system for the lack of judgment. He dropped his things on the floor next to her stuff as Colette placed the water down on the night stand. She passed one of the bottles to Daryl who took it gratefully. Chugging half of it, he closed it off before tossing it ontop of his bag for later.
Kicking his shoes off he went to get comfy on the small couch in the room until Cole stopped him."Daryl, don't sleep there. Come share the bed with me."
Daryl didn't even hide the look of surprise on his face as he faced Colette.
"I'll be alright, Cole. Besides I don't want to bother you while you sleep."
Colette gave him a look and shook her head at him.
"You wont bother me. Besides there's enough room here for 3 people. I'd rather you get at least one comfortable night of sleep. Even if it is the last one in a while. I'm not taking no for an answer."He sighed and pulled the covers away as climbed into the bed with the woman feeling extremely anxious. To hide his true feelings he glared at the beautiful woman and mumbled a curse at her.
"You bitch too much."
Colette grinned as she got under the covers with the stubborn man.
"Aww love you too, Dixon."He scoffed at the sentence as he remembered not too long ago she said the same thing. A small grin crawl onto his face at the memory.
The light of the room then turned off, letting them know the building was trying to conserve power.
Colette got comfortable on the bed before laying on her right side to stare at the man in the dark. Only light coming into the room was from the moon that shined from behind the curtains on the window.
Daryl laid tiredly on his back as he let his eyes rest closed. Colette was right about the bed being comfy. It felt good on his back, as much as he hated to admit it. He was so used to sleeping on the floor in the woods even before the apocalypse."Hey, Daryl."
"Hmm?"
"Do you think we're going to be staying here for long?"
Colette whispered in the dark not fully being able to sleep."I don't know Cole. It all seem to go to be true."
"Can I let you in on a secret Daryl?"
Daryl's eyes opened as he turned his head to face Colette with all his attention. He nodded, encouraging the woman to continue.
He watched her bite her lip nervously making him swallow hard but waited for her to continue."I'm scared, Daryl."
She whispered.Daryl couldn't help it as his eyes soften as he listened to the woman's confession.
"We're going to be okay, Colette. Nothing is going to happen to you, 'lright. I'm going to keep you alive, you hear me?"
He whispered back at her making her smile softly."I'll keep you alive too."
They stared into each other's eyes as sleep began to take over both of them.
Colette and Daryl made a promise to each other that night.
That no matter where they are, what they're fighting, they're going to do whatever they can in their power to keep each other alive.*****
