A hand covered my mouth to stifle my screams only making me more frantic in my attempts to get away. Safire was going off the hook but what was strange is that she wasn't looking in my attacker and I's direction.

"Calm down dammit! It's just me you idiot" I relax and stop trying to rip the firm hand that had only moments ago been on my mouth. Jordan moved into my sight of vision with a smirk on his face.

My heart was still pounding against my chest as I glared at my friend as he stood there looking all smug. "What the fuck was that? I was getting worried about you guys and you go and scare me shitless!" With my hands clenched at my side I tried so hard to hold myself back from slapping the shit out of my best friend.

Jordan doesn't seem to notice or more frankly care as his grin only increases. "Don't be so uptight A." He dares to say. The leaves crunch under the weight of Jordan as he walks over and leans down next to Safire. "What's up with her?"

I sigh disregarding the previous conversation and walk aver to Safire as well. "I don't know she hasn't ever did this before. Maybe she just saw a squirrel?"

He nods in agreement, "Yeah maybe. Anyways lets go back, I'm starving." He dragged out the last word to emphasize his statement.

I rolled my eyes and let out a small giggle. "Aren't you always? I swear you could eat all day if you chose." Pulling Safire back to the cabin I suddenly remember the shadow I saw. Was it just my imagination? Or could that be what Safire was going nuts about." I shake my head forcing the obscured idea away.

I groan when I feel an intense migraine coming. That prick! Look what he has done. I rub my temple trying to soothe my aching head. He is so dead.

*******

Setting my suitcase out I pick out an oversized t-shirt and a pair of sweats to wear to bed. Just as I slip the shirt over my head Faith came into the room. I don't bother to cover myself as we are both girls and clearly have all the same parts. Besides we are best friends.

She shuffles around the room gathering her scattered articles of clothing that were previously tossed around haphazardly. "Want to go out with me and Jordan?" She says as she falls onto her stomach against the bed.

I shake my head lightly, "Nah. You two go have fun I'm exhausted and would much rather have a make-out session with my pillow."

She laughs shaking her head with amusement. "Don't forget to use protection!" She shouts as she skips out of the room.

"I learn from the best!" I shout pulling my hair into a messy bun.

"Fuck off A." I hear before the door is slammed shut. I let out a faint giggle before I lay down in bed and get all cozy. As I turned on the lamp resting on the nightstand, a artificial light filled the room. It gave off a orange glow making the room dull.

I reached across the nightstand and grabbed my book excited to finally get the chance to get lost in a world not my own.

I was so absorbed in my book with the action, romance, and unexpected plot twists that it startled me when Safire's cold nose rubbed against my hand. Jumping back slightly I glanced over at her as I placed my bookmark between the pages of my text. "What is it girl?" I cooed as she leaped off the bed and trotted towards the door.

She started to whin letting me know she wanted to go out. I sighed and grabbed my coat and her leash from the chair that was in the living room.

We walked around the cabin a few times before I started to lead her back to the wooden door. She on the other hand had different plans as she started to pull me towards the edge of the thick woods.

A sigh escapes my mouth and I comply to her wishes. Just as we near the edge of the tree line I see that same silhouette of a person behind a fairly large pine tree.

"Fuck." I groan as my head starts to pound and my world starts to tilt in every direction. my hand comes out to steady me just in time as I tripped on a thick tree root. "What the hell?" I murmur.

I hear the sound of leaves crunching in the distance as I stand against the tree with my head in my hand. I immediately become wary and desperately try to clear my vision.

After blinking several times I regained my sight to a somewhat see the surroundings around me. Safire had long since slipped from my grasp and I was starting to panic.

I scanned the woods all around me in hopes to find Safire but I had no luck. I froze when I saw the faint outline of the silhouette once more as my head started to pound mercilessly.

I heard the crunching of leaves fill my ears once again before I heard Faiths voice call out to me. I however, did not answer. I had my eyes locked with the golden orbs of the silhouette.

Those eyes bore into my own increasing the pounding in my head ten fold. I sank to the cold ground filled with fallen leaves and branches. I never tore my eyes from the golden orbs scared that it might come after me.

"Angel?" Faiths voice called out but I once again stayed silent unable to find my voice.

As my sight began to come back I was able to make out more of the mysterious figure halfway hidden behind a pine tree. The masculine facial features of the figure stuck out to be. Straight nose, broad chin, but what was unique was the golden eyes. They were so bright and unnatural.

In one swift movement the figure was gone, no longer in my line of sight. The pain in my head and the dizziness went away immediately. A shiver crawled up my spine at not knowing what in the hell was going on.

"I'm over here Faith." I called to my friend before she had a heart attack.

"What the hell happened?" She questioned as her eyes landed on my crumpled body on the ground.

There was no way I was telling Faith about what happened so I could be classified as a lunatic. "Safire saw a squirrel and ran out of my hands." I reply trying to keep my voice as well as my composure calm. "She ran off and I don't know where she went." I started to panic.

Faith put a hand on my shoulder, "Its okay I'll help you look."

Glad that she didn't catch my lie, I stood up and followed Faith deeper in the woods on our hunt to find Safire.
